I remember this. It was published in 80 Micro if I remember rightly. It's not an adventure, but one of those awful choose your own adventure (CYOA) games. I've been trying to forget it for years, but it keeps rearing its ugly head in the form of unofficial ports for various machines. I think there was a sequel many years later called 'Assignment 46'. I don't want to know about that one either.

I'm not sure it's a "CYOA" game. Aren't those games (or books) where you make choices that lead to different possible alternate endings? This one is just an immensely simple "menu driven" adventure in Basic. You must figure out the single solution by figuring out the "right" menu selection for each scenario to get to the end and "Save the princess." Immensely simple, but perhaps a good game for a 5 or 6 year old.

That's exactly what a CYOA game is. It's multiple choice. Very boring. You can't do anything other than what the programmer has provided for in the menus. Hence no guess-the-verb scenarios, but lots of sudden death. No puzzles. No logical deduction. No satisfaction on completion. It's mindless entertainment for morons.

Not sure if "A Bator Lovag" is the same game or not. I did my port from C16 code, and the title screen is definitely "A Hos Lovag".

I have ported the text adventure made by 10 year old Jason Dyer back in the 1980s from GWBASIC to TRS-80 Micro Color BASIC. Changed the parser to standard two-word format. Added a little Vampire Bunny to the title screen. Shortened descriptions. Fits in 20K now.
Walkthrough's work, except you must use JUMP STREAM rather than JUMP ACROSS STREAM, etc.

Hey Jim, I just read your blog about 'A Hos Lovag' where you were bemoaning the lack of a TRS-80 version of Frank DaCosta's 'Mazies and Crazies'. This appears to be an RPG of some sort, so I'm not surprised that no one's bothered with it. However, if you're interested in his adventure 'Basements and Beasties', I've got the TRS-80 source code for that.
