Have you checked the walls around the kitchen/dining room area? Information obtained there will help you once you give the silver. Do this before you give the silver. Once in the tent be observant

Use the knife in the bedroom. Operative word is CUT. What to say to the woman will become clearer later in the game.

The flask with water. It is helpful around the oasis area where people are ignoring you.

Don't forget to TALK KING when you are there.

Yep, did the wall/ceiling thing and used that information, along with the silver, to get in the tent and get the name off the belt in the bandit leader's tent. Also got one of the seer's required objects from the pillow.

Of course! The flask with water is the valuable the nomads want since the nearby oasis is dry. I'm so dense . Now, how to show them what's in the flask...hmmm, showing flask isn't working, and pouring, emptying, drinking from the flask isn't impressing them either...

Thanks!

verbs

SHOW WATER.

Then head into town and play cards. Operative verb is ACCUSE. Then check out the peeling paint and eventually confront the lizard-man.

For some reason SHOW WATER doesn't work for me (and I checked again to be sure my flask is full of water). Perhaps I have a bad save somehow...

I think GIVE WATER will work better....

and yes, I have a map completed, I'll send it to Jacob in the new year (it's at work, and I'm not).

Nope, GIVE WATER doesn't work either.

I must have either (1) neglected to do something before getting here (2) did something I shoudn't have, or (3) I am just working from a corrupted save game.

Yup, bad save. I started over and need some advice. I can help the dwarven king with his request and free the slaves but then the Otherands kill me. Do I need to do something else first? There are a few places where it seems I should be able to do something but haven't: showing any jewelry to the woman in the jewelry shop, covering myself head to toe to pray at the alter (although I am wearing gloves and boots), finding a rope to get into the small cave in the foothills, getting past the boulder.

Thanks in advance.

order is important

Aftger you get the gloves and the knife, and look at the clothing
fill the flask and get the boots and talk to the king.
Then (I still say SHOW WATER works).
Then get your ID checked.
Then check the room with the paint, and play cards.
Then the pillow (this can be done earlier), then the fangs.
Then the lion, then go to the dogs.
Only then back to the seer.
Then return to the king, and only then free the slaves.
Then talk to the woman (you will know what to say to her).
After that things should be pretty straightforward for a while.

Hope that helps.

Are you done? Got all the stuff? Freed the slaves? Answered the riddles?Go to the otherlands? Figured out what to do with the box?

All in all, this was a good game, made better, of course, with group support.

Yup, all finished. And you're right, it's much more fun with group support. Anyone else want to join Terri & I on Tales of Mathematica?
