The new Spectrum game that was started in 1985, so I guess "Classics" it the right forum.

Anyway, I am having trouble getting on to the raft, does anyone know the correct command?

Solved the raft problem. If your hands are full then you cannot get on the raft, and furthermore if you issue the correct command when your hands are full a bug stops you proceeding further even if you drop an item and try again.

Now I have a fresh problem - what does the hermit require?

Terri has sent me a hint file, so I'm able to help.

Simply ask the hermit for help (HERMIT HELP), and he should guide you onwards.

I've already done that (or rather ASK HERMIT FOR HELP), it's the next part that is my problem because GIVE ALL (my possessions) results in the Hermit saying "Sorry pilgrim but you have not got all I need to assist you," so what is it that the pilgrim wants?

From what I can deciphre, you need
- the stone
- the parchment
- the amulet
- the map

Did that help you any?

Thanks, the stone is the thing I am missing.

You've been to a tent, right? A closer inspection might be in order :) Things might be hidden under something else

Thanks again, to both you (Jacob) and Terri.

You now how it is, you try one-hundred-and-one ever more desperate commands before concluding that there is nothing left to find, so when you discover that you were looking in the right place and had the right idea but had overlooked the words chosen by the game's author there is nothing left but to kick yourself!

The 101 commands seems to be a common problem with many games of the era. I have to admit that my patience with guess-the-word games isn't as large as it used to be. I'd rather spend time solving puzzles than trying 10 different commands for the same action.

I think I have more problems with "guess-the-verb" than you both have.
Anyway sounds like you are both on our way.

Keep truckin'.
