Interesting, one of Steve Lucas' games...

The Monster's Final Hour

...is a pretty blatent rip-off of...

Frankenstein Adventure

...a 1981 game by John R. Olsen that I'm quite familiar with (having done a PAW port for my own amusement).

I wonder if any of Steve's other games were "inspired" by earlier type-ins, such as John's?

[I'll add a reference on the Steve Lucas games, noting the origin]

Are you sure? I haven't played Frankenstein Adventure yet, but I haven't noticed any plagiarism in his other games - at least not the ones I've played. It is not unusual for authors to borrow ideas from other games, but plagiarism should at least be credited as a port of another game.

Yes. It's a slightly expanded version, but the core is identical.

You can read Jason's articles about the initial version of the game here...

Steve's version has a lot of padding locations, and a couple of extra puzzles, but it's the same game.

So, I'll have to play John Olsen's game first, then play Steve Lucas' game and note the differences. Thanks for the info.
