Has anyone played, and finished this intriguing, difficult, amazing game? (BBC). While I have the list of hints (question and answer format), the game is very difficult regarding the order one needs to do things. I can only imagine how impossible this game must have been with no save/restore feature.
Anyway, I need some glasses, but don't know where they are. I also don't know what to do at the red/white pole.
Help would be appreciated.

I've tried it briefly, but didn't get anywhere in it. You're talking about the Acornsoft version? I think this may be the only one left in existence -- I think Quondam used to be another of the old Phoenix mainframe games (like Acheton, Philosopher's Quest, Kingdom of Hamil, etc), but the original version and source code have been completely lost.

It is the Acornsoft version. Unless there is someone out there who has played (and finished) it, I guess I am stuck.

This is quite a tough game, if it wasn't for the hint sheet I would have remained ignorant of the banking system, I can only assume that the instructions mention the bank.
Anyway, I have reached the pole and the boarded up cave but as yet can go no further as I have not found a way to enter the cave.
In the meantime I will check out the "maux" area (even though you lose some of your score by doing so, unless there is another way to get there).

Thanks Alastair
Help would be appreciated.
I don't think there is another way to get to the "maux" area. You probably can say "maux" at any location.

Attempt to save the game in the forest glade by the pole and cave, then repeat the attempt. With that out of the way you should be able to finish the game.
P.S. The Customs Official lies, he does not return your treasure, so deposit all treasure (except, perhaps, the sword) before moving to the forest glade.

Thanks Alastair, I'll give that a try.
How do you get out of "maux"?

How does one deposit the harp if you used to to put the dragon to sleep?
At the serpent, what did you put in the sack for him to die? I was only able to put three object in the sack. Which three work to do him in?

For the harp, put the dragon to sleep then climb the tree again and deposit the harp at the branch there.
For the rucksack I put three objects into it whilst on the ledge north of Death Row, then once in Death Row I managed to add one more object. I am not sure if the selection of objects matters, but I originally put the slab in last thinking the game may treat that as a large object. However a test not using the slab still killed the serpent, so I think the important thing is to fill the rucksack immediately before entering Death Row, and again once you enter there.
