The Dark Forest https://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C2 ... orest.html is a very poor multiple choice type-in from Sinclair User which even the magazine admitted would only appeal "to some of our younger readers."

But it appears on Mike Mee's BASIC Listings site https://mug-uk.co.uk/zx-spectrum-bl-adventure-games/ as The Damned Forest from Cult Software. Mr. Mee comments: "One of the Cult games that I found was hard to track down (at a decent price) back when I was collecting games by this company."

Does anyone know more about this? Was this game really given a proper commercial release?

Well, those pages of Mike's site lists commercial games written in entirely or mostly in BASIC.

Presumably Mike is saying the inclusion of The Damned Forest would be for that reason. However, the text file included as a BASIC listing on his site in the download does seem to be for the magazine listing. There's no way that code produced the output of the Cult game, though! So, yeah, perhaps a mistake. [Edit: Just checking the game file itself in that download... that's the magazine listing too... which as the link above shows, isn't the Cult game!)
