Not dimwitted - just a tad "off".

Yes, I map that way also, but I only had three objects, not four, so it was tricky to say the least.

So after that, then what? You need to put something in the slot? Can you retrun back that way?

How do you get the robot to open the padlock (and I have forgotten where it is)? Is that the other side of the Transporter room, NE of of the hall?Presumably before he is crushed? Does one need the wire for this, or for the hatch?

The sandwich is in the "system of tunnels" maze. This too needs to be mapped with careful attention to the specific descriptions. Go east from where you found the tube, as a start.

After you get the wire, I still don't know how to get out from there.

You need to get past the guard a second time?

Ah, another problem arises: I haven't found the tube, hence no sandwich either.

As for the padlock, which is exactly where you said it would be, you simply HIT PADLOCK and the robot will take over from there. No items needed.

I not sure if you need to get past the guard - perhaps if we solve the problem with the transmitter, the guard will leave. Of course, this makes the entire trip to the Torture room area somewhat pointless?

Yes, I was going to ask what was the point of navigating the maze to get to the control room.

The tube and the sandwich are available once you dispose of the guards.

I played the game through again this time without the egg, since you can't drop it.

I am stuck again. The robot does not help with the hatch (in the system of tunnels). I cannot get him to do anything with the dustbin.

Maybe one says the "word from the well" at the guard control room?

I think we need more help from Geoff.

Ok, so just to clarify: I enter the maze south of the Torture Room, then get rid of the guards there, and the tube etc. will turn up?

I am just confused since you mentioned the sandwich in an earlier post where you apparently hadn't found the torture room yet. So which is the correct order?

Sorry, I meant dispose of the thieves.

Argh! I missed an entire section - when heading N and E after finding the robot, going W doesn't lead back to the same location. Stupid, stupid me. Ok, I'm finally back on track with the rest of you ;)
That should learn me to map properly!

Ah, here we go:
the word from the well is for the old lady, who leads you to the rebels :D

Ok, a recap:

1. The tube is the musical instrument - actually, it's a flute
2. I don't think you need to do anything with the dustbin. It just contains the magazine and the fur gloves.
3. After finding the gloves, the computer has said several times: "Do you know what happens when you rub ebonite with fur?". As it happens, no, I don't! I haven't found any ebonite or anything resembling it (ebonite is an early form of plastic).
4. I don't think the wire is for the hatch, since a) it's said to be "too complex to pick" and b) the game understands the word "key"
5. Oh, and you should BREAK PADLOCK rather than hit it, but you probably found out already.
6. The security door will open once you've talked to the old lady

So now I'm back at the transmitter, blueprints in hand, and I still don't know how to open that damn cover and get the guards to leave. But part from that, quite a lot of progress for once.

Not playing the game, but might be able to help out in the 'rub with fur' issue. To me that sounds like electrostatic charging. Works on pretty much every sort of rubber or plastic, so I guess if you find something made of rubber or plastic, it could do some electrical trick when rubbed with the fur gloves. With electrostatically loaded plastic, one could also lift paper scraps or other light things like dust or hair. Hope that helps.

I am having some difficulty getting the blueprints. I presume you need the tube to play music at the monolith. It does not appear to be dependent on whether you have the magazine. The screen just freezes when I say BLOW TUBE or FLUTE. I get that line at the bottom which usually states more messages are goning to come, but nothing.

Have you experienced this problem? Can you tell me what words to use?

Mark, excellent advice! Actually, I have been on the lookout for anything plastic-like, but so far nothing has shown up. But I hadn't thought about electricity.

Terri: I think the magazine is just there to let you know that the tube is actually a flute. You don't need the flute for the monolith - in fact, you don't need to do anything to the monolith, but it does influence something you're carrying - so watch out!

Thanks for the tip.

Now I am stuck where you are stuck? Any idea what and how something could be useful? The wire? The power unit? The tube? The gloves? Those appear to be the only things we haven't used yet.

What material is that 'tube' made of, I wonder. After checking wikipedia for Ebonite, I learned that at least the mouthpieces of many musical instruments are made out of it. Did you guys actually try to rub that tube already?

Mark, good suggestion but the tube is made of metal, so no go. But thanks for diving in along with us :thumb: That's something we don't see very often.

Terri, what power unit are you referring to? I must have missed it?

I am quite sure that our next step is to get that transmitter to open, so we can dispose of the guards and exit with the blueprints.

I think there was a power unit right at the beginning, beside the computer. I tried a few of my other suggestions and nothing worked.

I tired rubbing all kinds of things, even the dog!

In the starting location there's only the bucket and the crowbar apart from the computer. No power pack.

In the shop we still have the briefcase, which we haven't been able to purchase.

But really, I'm out of ideas. Geoff, suggestions? How do we use the transmitter to remove the guards?
