This looks to be a good game (WOS availability).

Anyone willing to play this? Assistance would be appreciated.

At this point, I have a blanket, a knife, thongs, the belt (that I am wearing), the twine, a stone, arrows and a bow (this needs to be made), twigs (and sticks which appear to have been used up somewhere), blanket.

I think I need to make a sling, but can't figure out how.

Don't now whether I need to push the rocks to block the pass, and when.

Can't kill the deer with the bow and arrows.

Need to catch the horsek, but don't know how.

Be nice - don't let me struggle alone with this.

Hi Terri, and everybody else...

I have been out of action with a major hard drive failure.
I am now back...

This game is also on my list of unsolved.

I think you are at the same stuck position as I am not a lot done.

I have on my map/notes 'make bow' and ' make shoes'

I have not been able to do anything else.

So, how did you make the shoes? You need to skin the deer? But how do you kill it?

Sorry to hear about your hard drive failure. Did you lose everything?

I don't think I have actually made the shoes - same position as you can't kill the deer.

I've only guessed that.

The repair man managed to slave the old hard drive via a 'ghost' so I have been lucky and still have everything.

Last weekend was the annual Adventure Convention and I have been show how to 'unpaws' games written by the paw.

So I have been able to look at all the text files on Greg the Egg 1,2,3,4
Part 1 is bugged so there is only the 2 lacations possible.
I have managed to get some way on part 2 but I will let you know if I finish or what...

Yes, Part 1 is bugged. Parts 2, 3 and 4 are playable.

I sent Jacob a solution, but he hasn't posted it yet.

Have fun.

So we're still both stuck about how to kill the deer. I'll have to return it. Am working on a few more games, but there appears to be little interest out there at the moment.

Glad to hear you didn't lose everything. Bad enough that one loses one's real memory, but to lose one's "virtual" memory too - thank heavens for good IT people.

Seems to me with the descriptions of the thongs and the belt and the corresponding hints, you should be able to make a slingshot, but I haven't figured out how to do that.

Also is the arrows are too noisy, would a feather help here? Have you seen a bird? If my idea of a slingshot works, that could kill a bird, no?

Had another go at this -
I now have the bow.
I tried to thow the knife at the deer, just said 'I missed'.

My husband had a brillian idea - you need to 'drive/chase' the horse into the box canyon - then pushing to rocks will trap them...???

But I can't find the correct Verb/noun input.

Haven't seen any birds...
Need to make shoes to cross the sharp stones.
Need the horse to cross the desert.

Maybe this game is bugged...

I had thought of that too, but didn't know how.

Will try again.

I still don't know how to kill and skin the deer, nor how to get the horses.

However, I have made a boat out of the tree trunk, explored and got a drum. But where and how to use it?

There has got to be something obvious we are missing.

I have yet to get as far as either of you, but here are a few things I have found.

First, TEXT turns the graphics off which is useful for those locations where the description scrolls under the picture, and GRAPHICS turns the graphics back on again.

Next the horse problem, you need to use DRIVE HORSE plus a little bit more :). To be specific

> DRIVE HORSE TO BOX CANYON

You have to do a few more things before you can RIDE (or MOUNT) HORSE, and so far the only way I have discovered to dismount the horse (there may be a better way) is

> DROP HORSE

(This post contains 'hidden' text after each > )

OK. Thanks Alastair. Knew we could count on you. Maybe the writer is not a native English speaker?

Well, I can't get on the horse.

But I still think one should explore up the path (where your feet hurt), plus at the cave with the figure, and maybe the other locations that appear to be dead ends, before one goes off into the desert.

Twigs suggest to me a fire. The stone to be used in a slingshot. And footwear. I've tried making reins, and a bridle. Maybe I should try harness (for the horse). The blooming deer. How to make your bow quiet?

I am running around in circles at the moment (again), so I await the workings of greater minds than mine to figure out what to do.

I would like to know some background to this game. SCORE tells us the objective, which is always useful to know. I suspect that the Lone Brave of the title is among the most adept of his tribe, which is why his people sent him on the quest, it also means that he is quite skilful, skilled enough to ride a horse bareback for example.

Anyway, both of you have the right idea for the deer - the belt makes an excellent sling - of course it boils down to the old "hunt for the right words" problem. What do you want to do with the stone, and with what do you want to do it?

Anyone got any ideas on how to lead a horse to water and make it drink? Also, how do you make a lasting fire?

Two word or four word parser? I thought I had tried every possible combination using either the belt or the thongs. Yup, it is a "find the right verb" problem, even though I have managed to decipher some of the verbs. Chase and drive may be synonomous.

Oh well, I better get used to this. No one will give an out-and-out answer, though I admit your hint does not fall in the "obscure" category".

A permament fire? So you were able to make a temporary fire? How? I couldn't find any flint. Did Indians rub two twigs together? Not to mention where?

I think you are farther ahead than me.

I am beyond frustrated. I want to throw the stone, and I want to use the belt. THROW STONE WITH BELT gets me the message "that's hardly effective." So I should make the sling first. But how? MAKE SLING WITH BELT doesn't work. MAKE worked with the bow and twine, so why not here?
I even went back to before making the bow in case you needed the twine.

Look, my ego (unlike some men I hear from) is not tied up with the idea that I need to solve things on my own. Or that help makes me less independent. I gladly accept direct help. If this will spoil things for others, then send me a private message Alastair.

This is ridiculous. One cannot spend hours and days looking for a verb.

Aargh :x is what I am. At the situation, not at anyone in particular, though if people make me suffer more, I'll blow my stack.

Now, I'm off to go play some mindless drivel and cool off until tomorrow. I am going to a conference to learn how to help people become more resilient. Maybe I'll learn something...
