Hi all
Just thought I would start a new subject with the Amstrad game ZED
I have managed to find 1coded letter which I think if my memory is right, is part of a 6 letter code for a transmitter.
I havn't go too far have I?

Hi Doreen. Nice to hear from you.
You are farther than I.
Check out the rubbish bin, Dave. But what to do with the object you find? I also cannot navigate the robot.
Also at the market stall, typing HELP gives you a hint. But after using the hint, then what?

I too have managed to find the robot and the token in the bin but have been unable to progress much further. The robot has a label on it saying reject-No ZIP. The ZIP is exactly what we need to activate it but I can't track it down. Embarrassed to fall at the first hurdle in this game.
Hiya Doreen, if we manage to finish this one then maybe we should try one of the unfinished ones that you suggested to me?

I've managed to get the ZIP; but not got much further. You can find the ZIP hiding under the market stall and remove it by following the clue in the HELP text (bit illogical).
This allows you to get to the courtyard with the dog; but I can't seem to advance from that courtyard without getting killed.

When ZED is talking to dog go N then quickly into the woods to avoid capture. This is a big game and I am currently exploring the building after the cold tunnel.

Thanks for the clues.
I have a question. Once you find the robot and the token and return to the market stall and then go back east, you find that the robot is on the landing gear of a truck. But after a while the truck is gone.
Does this suggest that a specific sequence of steps must be taken to not lose the robot?

Yes, you have to get the ZIP from the stall before going to find the droid in the bin.
I am currently mapping the 3D maze. Let me know if you want a copy when its done.

Sure - I'd like a map of a 3-D maze in two dimensions
Very interesting and intriguing. Somebody put thought in this. I'm kinda enjoying this but am not getting farther forward, I'm afraid. Too bad Amby isn't playing - she'd have conniptions. She hates mazes of any kind, while I rather like them.
Anyway - in the maze:
Somehow picking up the jack and queen appears to give you a bit more of longevity.
Once you are in the building you can get back out going E, but this is not possible later. Even with the spanner. I thought it might be useful there.
I have found the door (with numbers on it - this must be where Doreen is).
There is a tree with a sign that says "U/D" but there is no going anywhere with this.
There are cards - I have found the jack of spades and the queen of hearts, but no king. I don't know whether these are red herrings or necessary objects.
Haven't found a use for the wand - yet? Waving it gets you nowhere (like at the ledge - I think), but maybe there is a specific location only where it is useful.
Not that I have tried carrying more than three objects (the droid description said it had three arms - so I assumed that was the most it could carry).
Maybe sometimes having a lot of experience with games and objects, etc. is not all that helpful.
I await help from my colleagues.

You are correct about the three arms meaning you can only hold three things. There are only 2 cards in the maze to find the third you must get your character into the building. Examining the door from the outside will tell you what you need to open it. However, you will need to be ZED to get this, and you will need to be in a windy place to get it to him. Make sure you are not in the line of fire too. I am putting the finishing touches to the building map if you are interested.
The U/D tree is for your human self, your more dextrous avatar, as is the rocky westward path. 3D puzzles abound. I am enjoying this game.

Anyone managed to cross the chasm yet?
I can swing ZED but he gets across and then swings back, dangling in mid-air. Any advice?
Anyone know what the joker does?

I'm stuck.
Thanks for the map. It's much more organized than my arrows all over the place.
Examining the door from the outside will tell you what you need to open it.
I presume this means in the tiny room. And by "you" do you mean ZED or yourself? I don't know what the numbers mean, where to enter/type/use them and who should use them.
However, you will need to be ZED to get this, and you will need to be in a windy place to get it to him.
By "this" do you mean the numbers on the door, or something else? Who needs to be in the windy place? If ZED gets the numbers and the tool, how do you get this information to "yourself"?
I'm not sure what you mean about not being in the line of fire.
As yourself, you need to get into the building another way than freezing to death, no? Or can you get your clothes back? The manhole cover needs to be pushed up first before you can go down, either as ZED or as yourself. So that means you have to enter the sauna area first and use up your token. So presumably, either the code or the tool helps.
Yes, this game is interesting, but I am going around in circles. Can you help me out here?
No, I have not yet found a joker.
There are two ledges, the windy one and the one with the tree.

As yourself, you need to get into the building another way than freezing to death, no? Or can you get your clothes back?
After opening the manhole from inside, you can return to the changing rooms and "change clothes". You can then go through the cold tunnels under the manhole without freezing to death.
I presume this means in the tiny room. And by "you" do you mean ZED or yourself? I don't know what the numbers mean, where to enter/type/use them and who should use them.
Once you get your human self to the building you are unable to get in the same way as the droid because you are too big. If you examine the door from the east side you are told the hinges are secured with big bolts. You need something from inside to open it. The droid can drop heavy metal things from the windy ledge and you can then pick them up.
I'm not sure what you mean about not being in the line of fire.
Just make sure you are not standing beneath when it drops it!
I haven't found a use for the code yet. It appears to be a sum with the "equals" sign missing

Interesting thing about posting a question. As soon as you do so, you figure out a way.
Yes, I did change my clothes again.
And yes, I got the message that "I am too big."
OK I will try to drop things from the windy ledge.
I will write again, no doubt.

I'm a little farther ahead but not sure if I've made progress.
I have ZED in the tiny room or (room with the tree) with the magic wand, jack and queen. He eventually takes a rest.
The controller has found the cable, and the king of diamonds but can't get back out. I tired tying it on the branch where the monolith is, but can't get across. Is there another place to tie the cable to?
Still haven't found the joker. As the branch is over the chasm this is an idea, but ZED is taking a rest.
I've found a poetry book and a cassette.
Do I need to go back and play from the tiny room?

You need to tie the cable to ZED. Once you are down on the ledge with the tree, go west and get the cable. DO NOT touch the boulder yet. Go back out to the ledge with the tree and "look". It should say ZED is here. Then "tie cable" and you will tie it to ZED. Then "throw cable" and it should hang against the cliff. You can then do the caves and get back up the cable.
After this "pull cable" from the ledge and then climb the tree and "tie cable" again. ZED will now be usable. The joker is formed by holding the queen and king as your human self.
I have found the cassette but not a poetry book. Where did you get the book?
