To be able to swim the stream you need to get rid of the snakes in it. Do this:
Open the shark repellent canister and throw it
That takes care of them. The guardian on the steps part comes a bit later. I think that you will easily know what to do to get past him.

Early on before you climb the tree you can prod path. If you tie the rope to the tree you can get in and get a ring and a broken stake. You can also get past the pit after.

OK finished QA. You need to get in the hunting pit to get a ring, one of the treasures. I will write out a solution and send in to Jacob. Juan, do you want to PM me your surname or nickname etc and I will put you on the solution too. Just Opera House to finish now.

Nice. Game over. Now let's see about Opera House...

OK, I have had another bash on Opera House without much success. I have even looked at the code (which I hate doing) but haven't gleaned any solutions from that. What I have discovered though:
The switch that controls the organ also controls the trapdoor.
When you go in the sewer, out the trapdoor and back in the sewer examining the grille reads "it is by a collapsed wall" leading me to believe you are not supposed to come this way again and a bug allows you to access the grille again.
I cannot open the stagedoor.
I do not know what the valve does. I have tried opening and closing it with little change to the game. Surely this must play a part as you need the spanner to do it.
There must be a specific order to do things but I am getting tired of walking round in circles. Any ideas?

I am also not sure what the valve does.
I have not been able to open that door either.
The rings at the Phantom's lair seem to disappear when you use the switch, unless you lock them with the handcuffs, but then the organ pit does not appear.
I still have no idea what the bunch of keys are for. I thought that maybe they would be for unlocking the handcuffs, but that does not seem to be the case.
I also don't know what the bag of nuts is for (might be just another red herring.)

The keys unlock the dressing room doors after the phantom has locked you in. The tiepin may do the same but this also unlocks the door at the bottom of the trapdoor which is locked if you go there first.
If you listen at the intercom the phantom gives you a message. If you listen a second time he kills you. I also haven't found a use for the nuts.
Maybe we have to wear the cloak so he can't see us?

Try Opera House for the Atari. No progress since the last message on that thread.
Okay, got this one working and have given it a quick look. So far I have more objects than I can carry and I am trying to get the lay of the land. Seems like everyone else is quite a bit further along in the game - anyone have a "our story so far" you'd like to share?

Well, I think "my story" with this game so far is pretty much the same as when I started the thread. I am stuck at what appears to be close to the end of the game: killing (or maybe capturing?) the Phantom. There is an organ pit in his lair. This can be brought up or down with a switch. There's a couple of iron rings on the wall, which you can lock with the handcuffs. Not sure yet how is this supposed to be used to achieve the final objective. If you go to the roof of the theater there's a vent. You can hear the Phantom playing the organ from there. You can also drop the chloroform-soaked cotton there, but when you go back to his lair he's nowhere to be found. I thought that would knock him out.
Red Herrings

Also, these items appear to be red herrings or at least have proven useless so far:
Tub of icecream
Half of an apple
Packet of popcorn
Glass (it has some booze in it)
Bottle (empty)
Bag of nuts
Lamp (description says "it gives off a pale green light")

As expected, I am having problems.
I downloaded the emulator recommendeed.
Razors had written something about XF25 to copy into the files. The help file suggested something like that too. What is this and where do I find it?

I found the XF25 file. The files in there do not all correspond to what it is that Juan has. I don't know what to do now.

Terri, installing and running the emulator is not too complicated. Just follow these steps:
1- Make a folder called Atari800Win, or whatever other name you want
2- Go here and download the installer file in that folder:
http://a800win.atari-area.prv.pl/
3- Install the program (it will give you the option of installing it to whatever path you want; you can just install it to the same Atari800Win folder in the example above.)
4- Once the installation is done, uncheck the automatic run option and finish the installation
5- Go to the Atari800Win folder (or whatever other folder you used to install the emulator) and make a new folder called ROMS
6- Now go here and download the emuROMs.zip file to the ROMS folder:
http://www.bsn.sk/download/Atari/
7- Unzip the file in that same folder
8- Now try to run the emulator. It will send you to a ROM configuration window
9- Click on the "Search" button. Now search for the folder where you installed the Atari emulator (Atari800Win folder in our example.) The emulator will automatically find all the ROM files you unzipped in the ROMS folder
10- Go to "Atari" menu and "warm" reset the emulator twice. That's it, you are ready to go!
To play the game just make a new folder called, for example, Games, inside the Atari800Win folder and download the disk image there. Here is the link for
Opera House again:
http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft-M ... 13392.html
Unzip the game in the same Games folder. To run the game with the emulator first go to the "Atari" menu, then "Settings", and uncheck the "Disable BASIC when booting Atari". Then go to "File" menu, then "Autoboot image" and look for the game disk image (it should be in the Games folder of your Atari800Win folder, if you decided to follow the example above.) That's it. The game will load. Just press 1 to play
Opera House.

I seem to be in the same place as everyone else, though I have fixed the crossbow and loaded the bolt which no-one else has mentioned. I have also found the use for the lamp, it glows red in the presence of poisonous air.
