Dave -

That disk.dsk which I sent you by mistake has a game on it called HEROSEL

I wonder if you can sort anything out with it?

Peculiar game. Seems to have few verbs. Lots of stuff you can pick up.

In the farm you need soap to fash.

I presume the bones are needed for something since they're not easy to get to.

You can't bail with the pot, so I'll try the bucket.

The women's shoes. I though I tried getting into the theatre, but I can't wear the shoes.

I thought maybe the man in the stocks could steal the spade for you, but I don't know how to do that.

Lots of other bits and pieces.

How have you made out?

I tried playing it, but to be honest, I got bored quite quickly (don't know why, it's just not grabbing me).

It is a GAC game so I can decode and answer any direct questions (I'll try and obfuscate the answers though).

Don't obfuscate too much. Doreen and I have a history of writing when we are really stuck. A while back we caused a kafuffle on this forum, so I am wary about giving too direct of an answer, but some hints can be so obscure... (like some of the ones in this game).

BTW, I am writing a solution with hints to a game with a maze that Dave would marvel at. I am trying the trick of highlighting in a very light font. While it works in e-mails on this forum, I am not sure it will work on a .txt file. We'll see.

Hints to my questions would be appreciated, Dave. Muchly. Not as good as the previous game.

The pot is used in an unintuitive manner, the hole's about the same size as your head.

You can only wear one thing at a time; so if you're wearing anything else, REMOVE it first.

I think he's local colour; you can BUY the SPADE, but you need to do a favour for somebody to allow this.

I'm just wary that some people regard looking at the source as cheating (I tend to only do it when I'm really stuck and I find decoding the source sometimes more interesting than playing the game)!

Wearing one thing at a time???

Yes I put the pot on my head, but the shoes go on feet, no? What has one thing to do with another?

OK, I'll see how I make out with the bucket and the shoes. A few more of these highly irrelevant and nonsensical moves, and I may move on to another game.

OK - a touch more progress.

I know where the shoes are good for. And what the pot is for. And who to do a favour to and how to do it.

You can wear the shoes and the pot at the same time, but the order you put them on is important.

Is the bed good for anything? I can't seem to sleep on it.

What about the bones? And the apples? And the emerald?

Is the sheep good for anything?

My problem is I need soap to wash with. Where/how do I get that, as without it I don't think I can make progress?

I think most of these are just flavour text (though examining the bed is useful)

Have you go to the castle of the Marquis de Odorant; if so there is soap where you'd expect to find soap! (strangely though, you can't wash here, you have to do it elsewhere.)

There is a treasure map to be found in a book in the castle, it gives instructions where to dig etc.

The desert has only 4 locations so maybe from the 'bones' you go north then east...and dig here

Sorry I havn't done much to help here but I've been playing a lot of Barrie Eaton's games which I have just found - they are quite good...

So if we can't make much headway in this game perhaps we could change to one of Barrie's other games.

The ones I have downloaded are Unknown Planet. Rings of Artek. Fantastic Adventure. Message from deep space. and lastly Pyramid Adventure!

I have more progress...

I have been into the tower of Nars Tee and have unlocked the box, what I wonder do you do/give/show the picture to?

Any joy here Dave...

Is the castle behind the locked door?

And how do I open the door?

The castle entry is done by 'pulling the cows tail' !!!

The Tower is accessed when you have 'sort of bribed' the guard.

The only person I have not interacted with is the bouncer in the theatre.
If I say anything to him he promptly chucks me out.!!

I've made a little more progress.

Sorry - I missed the sw exit to the castle.

The small key doesn't unlock the chest. Is this openable?

Do you meaning the painting in the castle? What picture?

I think I have tried every object I have with the guard.

What is the verb here? And what do you give the guard?
