Now you have to find an object hidden in a cavity which can only be reached by the ladder.
It's a location in which the game writes "You can go nowhere at all" after climbing down.

Thanks Terri for sending the snapshot.
But the snapshot is is the same as mine - cannot load it. It is corrupted.
I have tried it on caprice and 2 different version of winape - to no avail.
I think this one is a no go.
Not unless the snapshot is of the first location where you can type something.

I suppose you mean typing something other than a direction.
OK I will send you another snapshot.
The place where "you can go nowhere."
I was there, but didn't know what to do?
What do I do there?

I've answered my own questions and finished the game.
So will the rest of you, and I hope you manage to play Doreen.
I'll write this up.

Got it. Now I'm stuck at a lava pit.

HOORAY AT LAST I'M PLAYING THE GAME!!
Terri - I got rid of all the zipped files of Ice and all the .dsk of ice which I had and then I downloaded the game again.
After unzipping the two parts I did notice that both games are approx 190 in size, the first lot that I had were much smaller - leading to the conclusion that the part 2 was in fact not fully downloaded.... why I don't know 'cos everyone else seems to be playing it.
Anyhow I am now playing it on the Caprice emulator - which I find is very much slower that what I have been used to.
But never worry I' playing...
How do you 'warm' up the deep pool?

Yahoo, Doreen
Re: the lava pit.
You need to toss something into it. Have you found something that is "cold to the touch"? Hints - south of the pool of water.
Re: pool of water. You need to enter it before you freeze it. To warm it up, do you have something that you can wave? This object changes the temperature of things - cold to warm to cold. In some ways (anad locations) it functions like the ring.
Warning: beyond this point, it gets a touch tedious. Since you cannot carry all the objects you need (and you need more than the three power objects, you will need to retrace steps. You can eventually drop the ladder around the lava location.

I must have missed this location. So far I have encountered 3 bodies of water. Two lakes and the sea. The sea doesn't seem to be affected by either the ring or the staff. The other two can be frozen, but the staff does nothing to them.

The pool pf water is around the monument area. You examined the dust, right? What else could you do in a "dirty" place? Use the same verb you used in the fissure. You will see a word. Say <the> and that will open up another location for you, i.e. to the pool.

OK, game over. The game's parser was a bit odd.

Hm you did read my post before, didn't you?

Or did you find the way on your own how to "legally" get the password?

Yes - I did read your other post.
I found the password "legally"

, once I found the correct verb.
Your hint in the fissure helped!!!
