ring quest

This is a spectrum game available at WoS.

Since it is one of the requested solutions on Jacob's site, it might be worth playing, and get more of us stuck. I am s-o-o-o optimistic.

I've mapped out a few locations. Where logic would seem to work, it doesn't unless I have problems with the verbs.

There is a dish with vinegar. Vinegar and soda make a good drain cleaner, but I can't do this.

I found a lamp, but it won't work, yet there is a place where it's dark, so it seems as if you should make it work.

There are spiders. What to do there?

I'll explore some more and get back with more stuck points.

I have a day off so I've played a bit....

Have lamp, bowl, weedkiller, soda and key and have been mapping as I go.

Is anyone else getting odd exit descriptions with things such as (cor!) in them?

There's also a ring to get, a paper, and a minstrel (chocolate), and a card.

Hmm, found paper and mistrel, along with a bucket, but no ring or card. I thought I came across a card early in the game but couldnt seem to get it and now I can find it again.... Also cant seem to get the vinegar out of the dish...

Ring - go SW from the Broad Hall and do something there.

Card - go E frpm the Broad Hall with a light source, but don't open the box right away.

I too cannot get the vinegar out of the dish. Vinegar and soda mixed together apparently can clear out drains, though haven't found one to clean out yet. Maybe I need the bucket (which I didn't pick up).

Also can't get past the spider, can't use the weedkiller at the plant, don't know who to give the minstrel to, etc.

SW of the Broad Hall is that small room that leads up to the galley, yes? I can't figure out what to do there. Ditto the top of the stairs east of the Broad Hall. I've been there carrying the lamp but without the box.

No luck with the plant, spider, vinegar, droid or Golem...

Sorry, my mistake - that is where you get the minstrel.

What I should have said is SE of the Broad Hall, then UP, then W (at a corridor with 8 exits.). When you go S, you see Tinsel, who kills you (I think unless you do something - what?). Likely the same thing with the golem, the plant, the spider, and other place where you eventually die.

When you go SW, examine what is there before you open it. Going NW will (if you reverse the actions of an old fairy tale) will get you something.

My apologies, Amby. This appears, on the surfce to be logical, so I think it has something to do with, not only having the correct object, but finding the correct verb.

BTW - I now believe that this is not the solution sought in Jacob's site. That refers to the Penguin game. Searching the Internet, you can find a pretty complete walkthrough of the Penguin/Origin (?) game.

Please, can someone help us with the verbs? I think this may be written in GAC.

Haven't seen a Tinsel - but did run into a Trog (whatever that is).
Also, found a dark room west of the bottom of the stairs but can't seem to get my lamp to light and thus keep dying.
Me thinks I have not yet found the corridor with 8 exits.
I agree, we could use some help with the verbs for this one.

(NOTE: I haven't played this yet, so please consider it a stab in the dark :))
Well I can see you're from the US so it *might* a British English specialty again...

My mate always says "Cor Blimey!" (God blind me!), where "blind" is an old subjunctive.
He would not be understood too well in some parts of the US, I'm afraid :)

Maybe it's a reference to God?
Cor! can also be an interjection meaning "Good grief!" or "Gawd, no!"

But maybe my imagination goes too far and it's just a (somewhat peculiar) abbreviation of "corridor"...

It is GAC, so I can help with any odd questions about it.

The dish of vinegar needs the crystal microphone dissolved in it before the soda, the verb form is "DROP xyz IN DISH"

Thanks Dave, but neither Amby or I have found the microphone.

Cor blimey - I've always wondered what that meant. Now, where to use it?

Have a closer look at an item in a small pink room.

That's the room with the droid, right? But I don't know what to do with it? I need a verb.

Any help you can give us about the "foes" - the golem, Tinsel, the plant, the trog, the spiders?

Also what to do with the computer with dials? I suppose one needs to wait until one gets a combination.

Thanks ahead of time.

You need to OPEN the DROID, then EXAMINE it. But you need an object to open the droid, one that will normally allow you to open metal things.
terri wrote:Any help you can give us about the "foes" - the golem,
The golem is quite base; so can easily be melted by throwing the right thing at it.
terri wrote:Tinsel
He wants something that could be hung 'round his neck.
terri wrote:the plant
You need to use something that will kill annoying plants, but you need to surprise the plant by coming from a different direction. The plant will provide you with something that can be used against the golem.
terri wrote:the trog
This just needs a weapon.
terri wrote:the spiders?
As with the trog, just use a weapon.

This will give you clues, if you examine it enough it will tell you how to get it working.

The short answer is in white below (highlight to read):
SAY ZOOTLE WURDLE

I did try to open the droid, but I don't have any tool?

Where can that be found, let alone what is it?
