Same here. I tied the rope to it before climbing down, and it only returned halfway up. But I can't PULL ROPE or CLIMB ROPE or anything like that to lower it the rest of the way. And if I let go of the rope, the ladder just springs back up again.

You realize that I am not much further ahead than that...

Go to the 6th floor, open the window, go down, then open that window. You can do that for all floors, including the third.

Yes, good point Terri. That's how I got to the top of the ladder to tie the rope to it. (Well, alright, I went out the 4th floor window, not 6th. But apart from that...) The big problem is how to get to the ladder from the car park, so I can bring the box up to the 3rd floor (it won't fit in the lift!) and cast the opening spell on it.

I have this idea that the orb, being magnetic, should somehow attract the key hanging. Anybody try this? How to do it?

Also looking in the keyhole at the red door, says there's a QUAY(!) there. Other than the standard definition of quay, can the Brits tell me if it has another meaning?

If you poke the keyhole, something falls down. Hence one should be able to slide the paper under the door, but no go.

I don't know if it is important to get from one balcony to the next. And even if you could put the lengthened pipe across it (I haven't tried this), then what?

Too many objects, and I am not creative enough...

You can cast spell at the pipe - which lengthens -
You need to lay plank - tie plank - lay pipe - tie pipe - on a balcony (Larry's) - you then need to get to the other balcony.

You will need a piece of paper to 'push paper' under the door - then poke keyhole - and pull paper - you will have a quay - which is pronounced 'key' o.k.

You have the right idea about using the orb as a magnet for the hanging key - this is where I am at the moment - not being able to get the key.

Plank? I have no plank. A hint on where the plank is?

Any idea what to do with the device?

Did you unroll the blanket?

I found the plank. Any luck with getting the Yale Key? I thought about somehow rolling the orb down the pipe, but that doesn't work. I suppose the device should be good for something.

There's a time limit unfortunately.

If you GO PIPE, it tells you that you are done (assuming you have the dragon) which I don't.

I'm stuck.

Hi all,

I have not been able to do anything with the device - I just presume that it will demagnetise the orb - so you have to go another way (around the balcony) to get the yale key.

I too have inserted orb into the pipe which is tied to the plank - on the balcony (sorry if I misled you re the balcony - it was not Larry's balcony - but the one to the right) - the orb wobbled then flew into orbit!!!!

The shortening spell needs to be cast on the red door.

somehow I think you might have to raise orb to get the yale key but how to get it on the balcony..............

This adventure is all about and based on the famous Adventure Conventions - which are held yearly in Birmingham U.K.

Many names in the game still attend....

I'm no further ahead either. Once the key is inside the orb, maybe the device gets it out. I keep thinking that since the balconies are higher and lower, we should be able to see-saw it. But that's highly unlikely. Other wild ideas are to tie the twine to the balcony and the orb and swing it? I think the tube may be only to get out, once something (whatever happens), maybe we short out the elevator or something? And that blanket? Red herring or useful? For a nap? Maybe I should try WRAP something in it?

You need to prise the plank in the room with the device - then unroll blanket to cover the hole then cast spell - the open spell for the box to open.

The only other hint is - don't take the orb into the room with the device.

I think you mean prise the plank with the lever, not the device.

Yes, the device "unmagnetizes" the orb, which will be good to get the yale key out.

So if the orb is in orbit, and the box is for catching it, and the blanket covers the floor so that the orb doesn't fall in the hole......looks like we are all stuck. Waiting does no good. Moving, pushing, wobbling, etc. the pipe does nothing.
So, how does one change the orbit of an orb? Another bigger orb?
Any more ideas (any wackier than mine?). Oh where is Isaac Newton when we need him?

O.K............................here is the final bit we have been missing.

The plank and the lengthened pipe need to be tied to the balcony NORTH of the almost bare boom. NOT the middle balcony as I was doing.

The box needs to be OPEN and dropped on the balcony NORTH of the almost bare room.

The blanket needs to be unrolled in the room with the device.

Go the the MIDDLE balcony and here insert the orb - The box should 'catch' the orb - now you can raise the orb to get the key........

Should be plain sailing from now on!!! :)

Bless you Doreen.
I thought I had tried all the balconies, but probably messed up with demagnetizing the globe.
