Thanks Terri,

Yes I had deciphered the remaining code and after I posted the last time I gave it another try, lo and behold if you type in WRITE etc etc the book is decoded. I am now trying to find my way across the moors.

Please, please can someone point out how to open the Americans door (Flat 6) which is currently locked. I have the bunch of keys but no verbiage or commands seem to work in this game.

You need to put the American on the bed.

Help needed...I'm currently running across the moors but continually get spotted by the plane.
I realise there is something in the rubble in the quarry but i keep getting caught just as I search.
Is there a way of hiding from the plane or timing moves/ a route to shake it off?

ta. :?

You've made some progress!!
I hope you've been to the pawnshop, got the rucksack, and are going to Dumfries and have read the newspaper. All this before the encounter with the sheep.

So, when you hear the plane HIDE and WAIT where there are bushes, until the plane goes away.

Hmmm...there is definitely no bushes or hiding place in any of the locations I'm in.

Maybe I have missed a part of the adventure that's causing a loop. I don't have the rucksack but have been to the pawnshop, sold the belt, bought ticket for Dumfries, got off at Crewe and bought paper, got back on train, changed for Dumfries, jumped off train when sheep blocked it. Hid, waited, moved away onto road & car came. Rolled DOWN a hill & since then have been chased by the plane but definitely no hiding place once down the hill. 2 q's...

1. Previous posts mention a Code Hint (JULIA) for the book. Where do I find that.
2. Where do I find a rucksack - back in London?

many thanks.

1. JULIA is what the American tells you before he dies. Oh Lordy, I hope you don't have to go all the way back to the beginning. This is one long game.]

2. Rucksack - among the things you get from your room before you leave is a pipe and a jar. You need to smoke the pipe and fill it. This is a pawn-able item.

3. After hiding in the bushes and waiting (at the sheep stop), EXAMINE GROUND, and do what the hint tells you. After going down the hill to escape tha car and you hear the aircraft, go W, SW, SE, SW, E, and HIDE again. Do something in the quarry. Then make your way to the Rambler's rest once the plane is gone.

You do have the torch, I hope.
