Hi

I too have not found a rope - It is a cord what you need.

I have found that it is bugged when you have the lit lamp you cannot drop it.

Have not cross the river.

Have not cross the pit.

I am hoping "cord" and "rope" are synonymous. And no, I have not found it.

I have found that it is bugged when you have the lit lamp you cannot drop it.

I am not sure this is really a bug. When you get the lamp, if you type "HELP" you are told not to drop it. You can extinguish it first, but then where to re-light it? I suppose that means you cannot return to where you need the lamp.

Have not cross the river.

Me neither.

Have not cross the pit.

I haven't found the pit. Where is it? Likely you will need a rope.

Anything anyone has been able to do in the cellar?

Around the whistling chamber area, there is a locked door, and a lens. So there must be some small writing to read? Anyone come across it?

Also, the Wizard's chamber - how to get into it? The door says you need a key - so where is the key? Maybe when you give the wizard a gift, he gives you the rope/cord?

Right had another go at this -

in order - get dagger sharpen it get lamp.
get bottle get ring examine it for word.
go down the ladder 2 x then south to 3 exits locations. drop all here then go east - say the word for the safe. get the key
light lamp, fill bottle. get book.
unlock chest - read the book at the troll. get the lens
go back to opal cavern then go e e e to door unlock it and open it.
wear the poles to cros the spiked floor.
examine the cave to see a CORD hook the cord with the umbrella.
give the water to the orc. read the notice with the lens.
Find the rope in the forest. return to the opal cavern.
just south of opal cavern go west to see a lever.
Now here is where im stuck. Still not seen the wizard but I think the narrow 3 exit cave with the hole in the roof is the way but how...?

Ah, so I needed to drop everything at the "tight squeeze" alcove? Now why didn't I think of that???

Somewhere I think you should find a dwarf (a pocket dwarf the game says) and he will push the button. I've looked and cannot find him. I'm not sure he is the same dwarf that pulls up the ladder. Drop the coin up there doesn't seem to work.
I wonder what you do with the rope, since TIE is not a verb the game recognizes.
I didn't try ENTER STUMP. Does that work?

Just throw the sharpened dagger at Grakor.

Looking at the listings....

You need to give the magic ring to the wizard who will give you the pocket helper - the dwarf. He needs the coin then will press the button for you.

When you peek at the listings - cheating here.

If you press the 'G' key you will see a 'Go to' type 1400 - press enter and the game will send you to the crystal chamber with the wizard.
but you cannot give the ring as a flag is not set and although you see the wizard you cannot give ring.

Thats just a little cheat.

At the tight 3 exits loc. with the hole above...

Oh crumb!! I KNOW I tried to throw the rope here. I get annoyed when one's actions are not recognized. Apparently there are also places where if you throw the rope (or amybe it's drop the lamp) that too is not "recognized.

OK, I'll try some more.

PS - yes, I cheated a little here too, to know about the pocket dwarf. But it didn't help me much, did it?

Other than a few glitches and bugs, not to mention the couple of hours I spent trying to map the maze, until "protection" hit me, I too am done. I'll send Jacob a solution in both our names. Maybe Amby can do the map, if the maze doesn't drive her wonky

Just a few more games to go on my "do list". I may even be relegated to playing sci-fi games. Beats shoveling snow 4 times in 24 hours or cleaning house!!! :P

Oh no, did you say the "M" word? I hate mazes...

As usual, I'm plodding along well behind the rest of you. I've only just now unlocked the door. I have been mapping as I go, so assuming I can successfully navigate the maze, I'll be happy to submit the map.

Hmmm, let's see: shoveling snow -vs- cleaning house -vs- playing a sci-fi game... I vote for the latter :)

The maze is a red herring - relax; you don't HAVE to explore it, unless you have a compulsion to do so
