Activate? How did you guess that? I would never have thought of it! You're a genius - or a walking thesaurus. Or both.
Trial and error and force of habit. It's a word that sometimes pops up in adventures. Since nothing else seemed to work I tried it, and it worked! I never discovered how to "deactivate" the torch, though. But it's not really necessary. The batteries last long enough to finish the whole game without having to turn it off.
Thanks. I'll try that this evening. (Did I miss an in-game clue that there's a steel item hidden in the well? Or are we just supposed to guess?)
If you type "help" the game sometimes gives you clues. Look at what it says in that room with the well.
Thanks. For some reason I'd imagined a high-up duct, set near the ceiling, so I was trying to climb or jump up to it. I'd never have guessed crawling. (Again, did I miss something establishing that it was near the floor?)
No, this one was purely trial and error. I tried "go duct", "enter duct", "climb duct", etc. none worked until "crawl duct".
Thanks. So it accepts the single word, but not the single letter...? :?

Are there any other single word inputs that I've got to look out for?
Yes, "help" is useful sometimes.

The game will also accept "inv".

Speaking for myself, I am neither a walking thesaurus or a genius.

I will send you a pm to tell you what I sometimes do. Assuming you've allowed this feature.

I often write hints, and I can do that for this game. But beware. My hints are sometimes quite specific. In this I differ from others in this forum. For example, in this case I will say "to turn the torch on, the verb is ACTIVATE". Otherwise how in Sam hill would one know. Maybe Juan has a better idea about how to make this more "obscure".
