Calling all classic IF BASIC game players!

I have created a new 10 Line BASIC text adventure for the TRS-80 MC-10 Computer. It is called "AREA51" and can be found in the 4K directory of the JimG directory of the Cassette directory in the Virtual MC-10 Emulator which can be downloaded here:
http://faculty.cbu.ca/jgerrie/Home/VMC10_073D.zip

Just run VMC10.exe and then type CLOAD and hit <Enter>. Then find the AREA51.C10 file under the "play cassette" option of the File menu. Then type RUN and be prepared for a surprisingly complex and challenging adventure for a 10 line BASIC program. Well, at least I hope so. Any feedback welcome and special kudos for anyone who can post the walk-through here. And remember no peeking at the source code;)

The program is for a 10-liner BASIC game contest, info can be found here:

Nice, I'll hope to have some spare time this weekend to give it a try.

It's already pretty close to 10 maxed lines, but there might be some room for minor improvements and tweaks so any feedback is welcome.

Solved it :D . It took me some time to figure out how to get past the electric fence. Well if it was a normal text adventure (without restrictions to the program code) I would like to see some changes (better descriptions and more verbs synonyms would make the game easier). For instance finding the basket is not that obvious, but for a 10 line game I'm quite impressed what you've managed to cram into it. Beside the aforementioned shortcomings (due to a lack of available memory) I did enjoy playing it. It was a nice little puzzle (and definitely bigger than what I expected from a 10 line game :thumb: ).

I wrote a walkthrough, but do you prefer if I put it online after the contest?

Good luck with the contest !!

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes. more synonyms would be nice. It might be possible to cram in one or even two more. If so, which?

Sorry about the basket trick and the fence one too. Had to have a couple of tough puzzles, otherwise it would be just too easy. Like you say, if I had space I could perhaps balance the trickiness with some clues. Oh well. Food for thought...

Waiting until after the contest to release the walkthrough is nice idea, although I sincerely doubt there is much chance of spoiling anyone else's fun.

Thanks again.

Okay. I have fleshed out the locations with mini descriptions. I think some of these might also act as subtle clues about what to search for. And all still in 10 lines and under 4K:)

Here's the link to the emulator (with the AREA51.C10 file in the Cassette/JimG/4K dir)
