Eye of Bain, The - Review

I've been working my way through the Adventure series and this is yet another enjoyable little romp.
You need to find the Eye of Bain whilst avoiding the natives, priests and various other little pitfalls on the way.
You start captured and in chains in a grass hut, getting out is easy enough, but then you are restricted by your chains and must deal with that if you want to explore all locations.
There are lots of little fun puzzles, with a fair bit of running around and decent share of hazards to keep you honest.
They've also improved the engine in this one with clever programming meaning things dropped from tree fall down to another location and actions having interesting knock on effects.
The puzzles are challenging but logical in the main and you will have fun dealing with various animals and aggressive characters.
The game has pretty decent pictures for each location, but you need to 'look' to see them, which makes the speed of exploration good (but remember to keep looking if you want to see all the pics).
Lots of lovely locations and decent atmosphere and suspense make this a very enjoyable game and well worth a try.

Parser/Vocabulary (Rating: 7/10)

An improved parser for the series, there will be the odd occasion where you might struggle, for instance using throw instead of give proves useful.

Atmosphere (Rating: 9/10)

Great atmosphere, helped by the pictures, really makes you feel in danger of being discovered by priests or attack from wild animals.

Cruelty (Rating: Tough)

There are a couple of times where you walk into death without chance of escape and one point where you can continue but the adventure cannot be completed (if you haven't done a task in that room) as you can't return to an important room without dying.

Puzzles (Rating: 8/10)

Strong, logical and fun.

Overall (Rating: 8/10)

Another winner from Artic, I'm sad that I only have one left to play! Find that jewel and sail to victory!
