Finally I come to the end of the Artic adventure series. it all started in 1982 and then was reinvigorated as I started solving them last year.
This final episode makes you the eponymous hero and you must traverse the forest, enter the Sheriff of Nottingham's castle, save Maid Marian and steal the Sheriff's treasure.
You start of in a forest glade with three graves visible. There is no explanation or description of this, you can't examine or look at them, but I think these are the graves of your merry men alluded to in the ending.
It's a fairly pedestrian affair and if you're a decent adventurer you will find it a little dull. I actually left it alone for four months to move onto other adventures, not a good sign.
Descriptions lack depth and although the pictures are pretty decent it doesn't save this game from a kind of atmospheric blandness.
The set out of the castle and some of the pictures gave the possibility of some interesting puzzles or discoveries, but it rarely rises above the routine.
If you want a rather easy challenge and a slightly annoying adventure to map then this is for you, but it is certainly low down on my list.
Parser/Vocabulary (Rating: 7/10)
Simple, but I had no problems achieving what I want to.
Atmosphere (Rating: 5/10)
It all felt a little flat really. Lots of wandering, but no scary foes, background or depth of description.
Cruelty (Rating: Polite)
There are a few easy deaths, but nothing too awful and it's pretty much impossible to get trapped or lost.
Puzzles (Rating: 6/10)
Very simple really, I bumbled through this with very little difficulty. Some puzzles you don't even realise you've solved because you were just collecting items.
Overall (Rating: 6/10)
A disappointing conclusion to a series I have enjoyed greatly. Glad I finished it though, because I hate leaving things unfinished.
