Synopsis

Plot

Your head throbs with pain as you slowly awaken and realize you are sitting in an unfamiliar room. You cannot remember who you are, where you are or anything about the past. Is this a dream? Where are you and how did you get here?

The room is relatively small and has one door. As the minutes progress, your confusion and feeling of helplessness mounts because you realize you are being held against your will and it will be a very hard task to escape.

This tough One Room Adventure keeps even the more experienced player baffled at times as you search for freedom.

(Taken from the introduction in the book - see below.)

Notes

One Room is a text adventure game that was written in 32K Extended Color BASIC for the TRS-80 Color Computer and published in the The Rainbow Book of Adventures in 1983. It might be the first room-escape game. It might even be the first one-room text adventure game.

The game was ported to the BBC Micro in 2018 by Lurkio. More details at Stardot.

Jim Gerrie has created a version of the game for the TRS-80 MC-10.

There is an TRS-80 MC-10 version too. It contains some fixes to the introductory situation that allowed you to see, despite being blindfolded. http://faculty.cbu.ca/jgerrie/Home/VMC10_073D.zip

And now an MSX port:

A mix from the CoCo and BBC versions with one or two things more.
Played to the end without bugs but did not tested extensively.

The BBC Micro port is now on Github, with a full checkin history (albeit without accurate checkin dates):
