In 1989, Spanish magazine MicroHobby announced a text adventure contest called "Concurso de Aventuras de MicroHobby". The original deadline for submissions was 31st December 1989, but this was extended to March 31sh 1990.
Staggeringly, over a hundred submissions were received and the contest is widely credited for its role in helping develop the Spanish homegrown text adventure scene.
Fifteen adventures were shortlisted and a final seven went through to the semi-final of the contest in 1990. Due to the lengthy judging process, and the fact that the organisers couldn't deliver the prizes in the form originally promised, the seven semi-finalists were declared joint winners.
