At the dwarf, I've saved and restored so many times, it is getting more than tedious. I can't seem to kill him.

I've tried with carrying the sword, as well as the gun and the knife.

This bit is done in machine code on the spectrum; but on the BBC version it's in BASIC! So it looks like you have ...

Re: gateway to the skies

Interestingly, the BBC version is in two parts; so for solution wise, it may be better to play the Beeb version :-). I've managed to pull full listings for both versions and they're very similar (though differing for the dialect of BASIC).

The code has been deliberately obfuscated to prevent people ...

Right; I've played through the adventure now and I'm pretty sure it was never finished and you can't win. I'm basically at the stone in the palace with nothing to do there.

Looking through the code for the adventure, I thought there may be a bug in my dictionary reader where I'm not decoding some ...

Re: thor

I have the utility 'unpaw' but it requires a .sna save. I did try saving a .sna but the spectaculator told me that it couldn't support it under 128 only a pentagon... I got confused so gave up on that.

IIRC the .sna file format supports 128K spectrum images (and amstrad). But I use a different ...

Sorry, have been busy doing non-interactive fiction stuff, so haven't checked the forum for a while.

The flat tyre is too heavy - I wonder if this has a use?

It looks like a crimson fish to me, the only actions I can see that you can perform in that ...

I starting to think I've found a bug in my GAC decoder, as far as I can tell that food and the stone only have examine descriptions and nothing else - I can see any actions to do with them!

When you refer to the stone, do you mean the stone or the rock; the stone is in the palace and the rock is at ...

You should be able to pick up the stone with the gas mask!

Your carrying weight is 151, the stone weighs 100 and the gas mask is 15. But I can't see anything obvious that you can do with the stone.

You need to open the trapdoor before you can go down, look around the room, there's a big clue when you first walk in!

Just a thought, what if you bring one of the objects there?

I'll write it up (I'm just being a bit lazy at the moment). It is quite a fun adventure though and not too hard...

Is the bed good for anything? I can't seem to sleep on it.

What about the bones? And the apples? And the emerald?

Is the sheep good for anything?
I think most of these are just flavour text (though examining the bed is useful)

My problem is I need soap to wash with. Where/how do I get that, as ...

You can't bail with the pot, so I'll try the bucket.

The pot is used in an unintuitive manner, the hole's about the same size as your head.

The women's shoes. I though I tried getting into the theatre, but I can't wear the shoes.

You can only wear one thing at a time; so if you're wearing ...

Doreen B wrote:I wonder if you can sort anything out with it?
I tried playing it, but to be honest, I got bored quite quickly (don't know why, it's just not grabbing me).

It is a GAC game so I can decode and answer any direct questions (I'll try and obfuscate the answers though).

I didn't really do much - I'd barely started when you guys pulled so far ahead! I'd be interested to see the solution though...

Sorry I misinterpreted the location list (that room is where the ladder is).

The wooden leg is at:
YOU ARE AT A DEAD END. YOU LOOK ALL AROUND BUT CAN FIND NO OTHER WAY TO CONTINUE.
This seems to be at the end of a north-south corridor behind an iron door.
