Re: Arthur Davis Detective Encounter

There is no evidence that I'm aware of that any of these ever had existed. Advertising for software that was not yet finished (or even started!) was relatively common in the 80s, and there are plenty of examples of games confirmed by the people involved that were never finished / released. If any of ...

Re: "Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

Done now. All puzzles solved, all treasures accounted for, max score (336 points). I'll upload my map and write a full solution. This will probably take longer than it did solving, as I have to replay the game several times to make sure the solution is reasonably sequenced, reproducible, and random ...

Re: "Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

there is a post from 2013 on the Phantom's Revenge. I almost solved it, but there were a few problems I could not solve back then. Would be great to see a complete solution at last.

Thanks, interesting insights. After some effort, I did find solutions to most of your questions. There are still a ...

Re: "Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

Well done finding out. I just finished The Hermit's Secret and noticed that nobody has published a solution for The Phantom's Revenge (which seems to be more difficult). Maybe I should give it a go, if there is any interest, while I still have an intuition of the author's mindset for puzzles.

Re: Recovered Adventures

These woz-a-day files are in the woz disk image format, but that format is not supported by any emulators that I'm familiar with. Can anyone either suggest an emulator that supports it or, better still, suggest a tool that converts the woz format to something more widely supported?

Re: Twine games?

As I've said before, much as I enjoy old 8-bit games, there's no getting around the fact that a lot of them are a) fairly terrible and b) pretty much CYOA in parser based form, meaning that often you'll have exactly one choice, one command that's valid in a given situation. Are those games more or ...

Re: Twine games?

I don't consider these games to be part of the same genre as classic text adventures. They may well be covered by IFDB, but not all sites need to have the same criteria for inclusion.

I don't have it by the way... The only site offering a download of the pdf is asking for credit card details as a verification. I don't trust it enough to give it my details!

Please do NOT enter anything on that site: it is a scam. These type of sites are automatically generated as bait, and ...

I agree. It is a nice little game, but doesn't fall into what I would regard as IF.

Indeed. Just press ENTER if the picture shows and it will be replaced by the text description, and vice versa. This goes for all the "Mysterious Adventures" games on the Spectrum.

Re: Searching CASA

Even if there are walkthroughs for a given game, there is the possibility they don't cover all versions. It seems incredible, but after 36 years there was still no accurate walkthrough of the well-known "Twin Kingdom Valley" adventure which allowed for completion of the ZX Spectrum version, because ...
