Re: Lovecraftian Games on the IF Archive
While we're at it - halfway off topic: anyone of you guys ever played the two Lovecraftian point & click adventures "Shadow of the Comet" and "Prisoner of Ice"? They are both absolutely excellent. Shadow of the Comet, though, is among the top 3 hardest games I have ever played, at the very edge of ...

Re: Platform distinction
For some people, it might be confusing that there are several Atari or Commodore platforms. If we were to streamline that info, the more advanced users would be frustrated.

Re: Idea: browse for "unsolved"
"Unsolved" checkbox is now on the advanced search form. Of course, if you check it and select "Solution" in the box above at the same time, you'll get zero results ;)
Furthermore, when you check this box, it also shows you games that actually HAVE been solved, but where just hints are provided. I ...

Even more appreciation for your effort because of that. Map and hint sheet coming soon, Jacobdave wrote:Ah, the problems of reading source code in a language that you only barely understand.

Re: Zauberschloss 2 - german adventure - need help/brauche H
I'm afraid the toad was wrong as well. The "Zauberstein" was the item needed to kill the Shadow. Your help was still immensely valuable, because with your pointers I found the answer myself in the code. I observed that two monsters (ghoul and werewolf) can be killed with the same item, the silver ...

That sounds much more reasonable, thanks. If only I had that magic stone already... The thing with the toad still sounds a bit weird, but I'll try this evening and see what happens.

Re: Zauberschloss 2 - german adventure - need help/brauche H
Thanks a lot for looking, but sadly it didn't work. I was surprised already when you mentioned those two items, since they make no sense at all in the context, and so far, the adventure was refreshingly logical.

Zauberschloss 2 - german adventure - need help/brauche Hilfe
Okay, fine game so far, with lots of locations to map and a few nice puzzles. But I am so totally stuck now that I even looked into the code already (and that's highly unusual).
Now, if only the code would help me... the different item names are replaced by some funny looking variables, so that my ...

Idea: browse for "unsolved"
I noticed there are games getting added which have no solution yet. Wouldn't it be a neat feature to be able to browse for such games? Sort of like your old "Wanted" list, just automatized, with tags or whatever you guys call it

Involvement of screenshots is definetly a key trigger, yes. Can't quite remember if slowness happens in other situations as well, to be honest.

Re: Platform distinction
C64/C128 can definetly be put together. There is hardly any C128 game that really used that machine's performance, and to play most games, you had to enter the ominous "GO64" command anyway. In fact, for the category of text-based adventures (i.e. for this site), I reckon you could leave out the ...

Re: Scope of the site
As the original contributor of RPG solutions to this site, my two cents:
Yeah, I know they don't really belong here, but a few exotic contributions don't hurt, I think. They add a bit of colour :-). And they have a fantastically large number of mazes to map, hehe... And more recently, I'm slowly ...

Hah! Trust me to find a way to break any system, hehe. That's why people here at the Institute hesitate to let me use any of the more sophisticated measurement machinery :D
