Well, that's a good question. I had Thrust and Space Taxi in mind, because both have such a well-rounded feeling of inertia and gravity. Come to think of it - many C64 games are actually pretty hard, and need sophisticated "piloting". Hard to avoid the 'pixel-perfect jumping' you mentioned ...

Same goes for my C64, hehe. So once you start Operation Breadbox, make sure to give me a call. I'll be with you, and add the immense computing power of my machine to yours.

As for gaming, I'd say let the kids start with Space Taxi, Thrust, Wonderboy, etc. etc... That should hook them up to the ...

Fair enough :-).

I was thinking about a real C64, though. The good old breadbox.

Congratulations Jacob!

That is a cute little boy your wife and you have there. Congratulations, and best wishes to all of you. Remember to present him with a C64 once he turns 8 :-)

PS - you can join us if you wish. The first two parts are relatively easy. There is a fourth section after this.

Awfully nice of you, Terri. But I think I must decline. Apart from my busy schedule, I just started to attempt another german language adventure called Logan. It's on Jacob's Wanted ...

no real idea about the adventure as a whole, just following the threads here and there...

curved stick plus string = bow maybe?

just an idea.

I stand corrected, hehe. Told you my basic is rusty (or the C64 basic didn't have that command back when I played with basic). It looks like something along the lines of 'for-next' or if-then'. In that case, a 'while' is missing in lines above, or the program simply jumps to the wrong place. I doubt ...

since 'wend' doesn't really sound like a basic command to me, maybe simply add a 'rem' (1090 rem wend) and see if it skips the line and runs. I may be utterly wrong, because my basic skills are, diplomatically spoken, extremely rusty. Good luck :-)

sounds rather annoying to me, switching off a server without informing people beforehand. As far as I can see, the AD&D maps were among those affected. If you can't get them back from if-legends, I will look if I still have copies on my old computer.

dead links

Hi Jacob,

Is it just me, or are a lot of links to maps on your page dead right now?

Looks pretty okay to me. And as it's a vector format (if I got that right), it should be a small file. Always a shame when you draw maps in Corel, and then you have to export them to jpg. Blows them up like hell, and makes them look fuzzy as well. I experimented with exporting to wmf (the only ...

What material is that 'tube' made of, I wonder. After checking wikipedia for Ebonite, I learned that at least the mouthpieces of many musical instruments are made out of it. Did you guys actually try to rub that tube already?

Not playing the game, but might be able to help out in the 'rub with fur' issue. To me that sounds like electrostatic charging. Works on pretty much every sort of rubber or plastic, so I guess if you find something made of rubber or plastic, it could do some electrical trick when rubbed with the fur ...

Sorry, can't help you there. I'm a complete legasthenic when it comes to coding. But actually, apart from the site being a little slow sometimes, I see nothing much wrong with it. Also, isn't 'old school' this site's middle name? :-)
