To be fair, that is how the game was originally sold back in 1982...

Re: Cornucopia
Well, it's Uka we have to thank for extracting all these files from a collector.
Hopefully one day some of the other formats will turn up. And maybe even the Commodore PET originals. You playing Jim MacBrayne's Excalibur is rather apt as games like Catacombs and Cornucopia formed an early part of ...

Re: Catacombs/Cornucopia
Although I've heard that in 1991 Supersoft has re-published at least "Witch Hunt" with bugs cleaned and digitized sounds added - but that could be just a press-review version that was not released commercially.
Yeah, that's an odd one.
Sue Medley was reviewing the whole Classic Quests series ...

Cornucopia
Following on from the thread attempting to solve Brian Cotton's long lost Catacombs; this is for one of his other games, Cornucopia.

Re: Catacombs
But this topic used to be named "Catacombs/Cornucopia"?
It did. I've changed it. It'd be less confusing to have a separate thread for Cornucopia; this one is already a bit of a mammoth read. :)
I'm really impressed with how much of Catacombs has been solved. If the original PET game was as ...
Re: Catacombs
Infocom games did have some clear endings, but that's not the case with all the others. Especially early games created by a single author, like all the five Classic Quests.
No, that isn't quite true. The Brian Cotton games *are* fairly unusual in not having at least some ending text. Canalboy is ...
Re: Catacombs/Cornucopia
That sounds very unusual. I can't think of another text adventure that doesn't have some form of congratulatory or valedictory message at the end.
As Uka has said, many of Brian Cotton's other games are the same. See Jacob's solution for Goblin Towers or Dorothy's for Witch Hunt. These are based ...

Re: Untangling Dog Stars...
I will get around to sitting down and sorting these out at some point soon.
It's not getting any easier, though, as Jason Dyer has just submitted a link to the listing for Mighty Moramar... and, yeah, it looks like yet another version of Dogstar...

Re: La Diosa de Cozumel
It'd probably be worth talking to the Spanish adventurers over at CAAD as they know everything about those games.
I know there was a solution in CAAD 51, for example http://www.caad.es/fichas/caad-51.html
and that they have a PC CGA and EGA version of the game up there http://www.caad.es/fichas/la ...

Re: Catacombs/Cornucopia
Yes, I know you have been searching for it for years :)
And it seems very strange to me that "Catacombs" and "Cornucopia", which were sold from 1981 to about 1991 in the UK and in Australia, are so rare that nobody even has the cover picture or the clue sheet (which should have answered most if ...
Re: Catacombs/Cornucopia
It would be nice to find C64 or other version of the game to compare
Lol. From a computer history point of view that would be great too, especially the original PET version, but for some reason these two games seem exceptionally rare and we've spent a long time trying to track them down. One of ...

Urgh, how annoying. But 223 out of 250 points... That's really impressive!Alex wrote: Tue Oct 26, 2021 10:02 am I now know how to get 223 out of 250 points, but for some reason my Dosbox stopped working properly this morningCan't load or save states anymore. No idea what went wrong.

Re: Deja Vu Graham Nelson
From the comments I've read it doesn't sound like even Graham Nelson thinks Deja Vu is worth playing!
Strictly a tech demo.
