Re: Westbury Mystery

Does the rest of the database look okay apart from the section you've posted? We've used unQuill on some heavily modified Quilled games in the past and, although the database initially looks readable, it quite often it doesn't make much sense when you look at it closely... especially if the data has ...

Re: Excalibur by Jim Macbrayne 1983

The Russian website has some incorrect details... The Alternative game was by Ian Smith and Shaun McClure and was published for the ZX Spectrum, not C64 http://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C191/Excalibur%3A+Sword+of+Kings.html

The solution on the website *is* for Jim's Excalibur, though. It's ...

Re: Westbury Mystery

Very odd... Even the "readable" parts of that TWIS * entry seem potentially mangled and wrong, so it does make you wonder if the rest of the database is similarly garbled.

I've not played any of Dorothy's C64 games... I only played the ones that got Spectrum ports back in the day.

Re: Westbury Mystery

Where did you get your copy of the game from?

Presumably Dorothy has a copy?

I think the IFarchive has copies of the files that were on Dorothy's old web site...

I'm not taking the blame for this one (even though I created it) as I thought Godzilla was by far the superior search term!
Done.

Not a text adventure...?

Seems to be a board game, rather than a text adventure...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

No, these are not really technical articles. I don't know if The Quill or Adventure Writer are well sold in France, and if there are games that are archived somewhere.

The Adventure Writer got a French release, even though that was apparently against the terms of the arrangement CodeWriter had ...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

You can also correct "auras for corrections" by "auraes for corrections ", but you can put my real name or nothing at all.

Yeah... I know I've amended that in the past... I think the autocorrect keeps changing it back. I'll add it to the list.

Are you interested in French articles about The ...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

The Quill Reference Guide Version 1.0
I think there's a mistake in the example : LIGHT LAMP DROP 1 GET 1 MESSAGE SWAP 1 0 OK
The action "MESSAGE" is not needed : LIGHT LAMP DROP 1 GET 1 SWAP 1 0 OK

Yeah, that shouldn't be there. I'll change it the next time I add enough to do a new version.

Re: Error in solution - The Eunuch's Ball

Yes, it's a different book that you retrieve once you're in the study.

(I must admit that, when playing, I never use the advanced features of a parser like the PAWs... I don't think I've even ever typed GET BOOK AND EXAMINE IT.

Lots of options to make a text adventure these days... even on 8-bit ...

Re: Error in solution - The Eunuch's Ball

One you've pulled the book you open the passage, and automatically go into the study.

EXAMINE STUDY produces the "good idea" response, and after a LOOK you'll see the BOOK that you're looking for.

Re: Solution problem? Mutiny (part 2)

Ignore the search debris and examine ruby bit, as you've already done that.

You need to follow the solution and RAISE HOOD to get past McCleary.

Once you've done that, and continue following the solution, the stake can be retrieved when it washes up and you make your way to the promenade and can ...

Re: Port of Tizpan, Lord of the Jungle in zQuill

A word of caution regarding the Simon Avery games... the Spectrum versions weren't always very good ports (many got improved versions later on but not all those improved versions have been archived). The original Amstrad games are probably the best starting points for any conversions.

Very interesting. What sort of messages does it have issues with?
