Re: Solution problem? Feasibility Experiment

There are many different versions of that game.

The site has a Spectrum specific solution.

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

Not as soon as you hit submit, Gary... but, yes... easiest thing in the world to use. :)

However... if you are emulating, then it makes a lot more sense to go for a 128K model where you don't have to get your head around the keyword system which only really makes sense with a proper keyboard.

(I ...

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

In the early days of Adventuron, the system had an instant "port from Quill to Adventuron" tool which Chris deactivated as he wasn't keen on people porting games to Adventuron without the permission of the original authors. The import from PAW worked fairly well too.

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

VERI and VERS trigger message 45 which contains details of the version of the game. (Presumably VERI is a contraction for version information)

Looking through the response table I think it would be safe to ignore INTR.

(It can be important to remember that in the Quill, unlike later systems such ...

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

Hopefully so, as she was on the forums just last year.

Dorothy was a well known name to us on the scene in the UK; just as much for her regular letters and endless contributions to Adventure Probe, as for her own, well-regarded Quilled games. She even distributed a lot of UK authors' work in ...

Re: Spectrum game "Who is Gordon Bennet"

Always an interesting to trawl back through the archives as there's always something new to be noticed...

For example... I think this game is another (late) Jonathan Scott game that's been filed under "Jon Scott"...

Re: Spectrum game "Who is Gordon Bennet"

Not the same as The End is Nigh, looking at the solution... but certainly some similar elements...

Re: Spectrum game "Who is Gordon Bennet"

Yeah, it may be a misfiled solution for a version of The End is Nigh...
https://www.solutionarchive.com/game/id ... C+The.html

Which I've also noticed that we don't have currently grouped together with the other Zikov games.

Re: Spectrum game "Who is Gordon Bennet"

Ooh... looking through the solution, I'd say that it's part of the Jonathan Scott/Stephen Boyd Zikov games.

I will do a bit more research... It might be the case that it's an existing game that's just been misfiled under a different name.

Re: Possible solution problem - Cup, The

Hi. I was using the TZX file available here:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/6126/ZX-Spectrum/The_Cup
called "CupThe(ZenobiSoftware).tzx.zip".
I favour Zenobi re-releases when there is a choice (since they've had a chance to fix bugs and generally tidy up annoyances), and obviously TZX is ...

Re: Possible solution problem - Cup, The

I'm pretty sure he's playing the PAWed version. All the solutions I've seen are for the Quilled versions. I don't think they're that different but he will have to do some work to apply the knowledge from the earlier game.
