Re: Powerstar (Atari)

Well done! Both of you. I'll just finish my map and see if every location is visited with the above provided solution.

Re: Powerstar (Atari)

No unfortunately not. Until now I only started to visit all the locations and mapping them. Thats normally the easiest part of playing a game. Next will be making a list of all the objects.

Re: Powerstar (Atari)

To give an idea on how the map works, the first part of the map. The 7 locations are actually 28 different locations.

To walk around typing the cardinal directions is faster than using a joystick.

Re: Powerstar (Atari)

Interesting game code. Each location consists of 4 different room numbers. You can grab an object if it is in one of the 4 connected room numbers, but you will only see the object if you are standing where the object is shown (looking in the right direction).

Re: Lost in the desert

I wanted to give it a try and at first I didn't understand it, but I learned that on world of spectrum there are two different games called Lost in the desert. The tzx file is adifferent game than the z80 file  I chose the wrong one.

Re: Missing Atari 8-bit titles

Thanks for the images. Glad I at last was able to use the Atari version of the book. The books are not entirely without errors. The colons were in the msx version, but obviously had no use. The atari version of the book had 8 double lines in the book between lines 3000-3460.

This book was my ...

Re: Missing Atari 8-bit titles

Do you have a scan of the book or know of a scan of the book. If so, I'm happy to do the conversions.

I don't have a scan. I will give you a txt file for "het geheim van Landusië" soon. I'll do my best to make less typos. Sorry about that. I shouldn't do several things at the same time I guess ...

De Vloek van Nefre A Toth.zip
Can you use this txt file to make a working copy? I changed the MSX version into the Atari version using the book. It has only a few differences in the code.

Re: RPGs... removal discussion & log

They're not objects, really. You don't carry them. They're just "chance" encounters that produce a positive or negative effect on your stats.

You are right, you don't carry the objects. You use them automaticallly the moment you encounter them. But that is not uncommon to other similar games ...

Re: RPGs... removal discussion & log

I've downloaded the book and read the listing. Sure it is more like an rpg, but it does have some objects from the chests you can find. There are a lot more games like this in the database (I've played several of them). It looks to me like a very crappy basic text adventure with a lot of rpg ...

Re: RPGs... removal discussion & log

In every taxonomy with more than a few variables there will always be exceptions, eccentricities, and nuances. Classification efforts according to clear-cut criteria are doomed by design. The only pragmatic thing is to do is exercise a bit of care with new additions and restraint with removals. I ...
