Solution to Roy Stead's S.T.I.
This is a PAWed game for the ZX Spectrum. Unfortunately it's not very good.
Scratch that, it's bad. It attempts to be funny, but fails; the goal in the
game is to collect a completely random set of objects, with no indication
(until it's too late) which they are; the map is full of useless, empty
locations with tediously unfunny descriptions; and most puzzles are barely if
at all guessable. Even for its age, it simply isn't any good.
Technically speaking, it's a PAWed game, with its good and bad points; notably,
you need the first five, not four, letters of each word. There are also several
wandering NPCs you need to interact with (and one which is completely random
and irrelevant), which means a certain amount of searching. One of these, the
werewolf, is dangerous; if you meet it before you're told to find it, move away
for a turn. And remember where it was; you'll need to find it later and it may
well have stayed in roughly the same area.

Take the helmet, stick and nuggets, then jump. Go west and down, take the milk,
then go up, east six times, south and east twice. There may be a cat here (or
nearby) who may steal your walking stick. In any case, drop your milk here and
wait around for the cat to arrive and drink the milk; then take back your
stick, if necessary.
Go east and south, take the bowl, then north, west, north, east twice. Melt the
nuggets - they'll be turned into a crucifix. West thrice, south, west twice,
north, west twice, south thrice, east, south, east twice. Wander around the
woods until you find the horse, then ride it. That done, keep going south until
you find a locked door (which, AFAICT, you always will no matter where in the
woods you start going south - if not, wander a bit until you find it). We don't
need to go through the door, but it's as good a place marker as any.
From the door, go east twice and south. Examine the bush twice, then take the
stake. Go back north, west twice, north twice, west twice. Take and wear the
coat. West, north, west. Knock. East, up, up, west, open door, south. Kill the
man. Drop the stake and take the mallet. North, east, south. Open the chest.
Get all from chest. Break board, drop mallet.
Down. Examine straw, get trowel. Up, north, down twice, west, north four times,
east thrice, south twice. Wear the gloves, hat and helmet (yes, at the same
time!), then take the mold. North, east, north, east thrice. Melt the crucifix
to get some bullets, then drop the mold and bowl. West thrice, north twice,
east, north twice. Take the apple. South, west twice, south, west, north. Take
the pistol, which will automatically be loaded.
And now for a bit where I can only tell you roughly what to do, not where and
when. Go and find the werewolf. The problem is that he is a wandering monster,
and when I say wandering, I mean that he may be anywhere in the game by now.
It's impossible to say where he is. Moreover, by day - you'll have seen night
falling and day breaking - he isn't a werewolf but a barman.
Go roam across the map until you find either the barman or the werewolf. If you
find the barman, keep following him until he turns into a werewolf. Having
found your wolf, follow him until he stops moving away, then kill him. Examine
the bike. Now find your way back to the market square where you landed, so that
we can continue this walkthrough as normal.
From the market, go south twice and east, collecting - for some unfathomable
reason - a rat. Then west, north twice, east five times, south, east twice,
south and east. Take the spring. Another bit of random magic gives us a pogo
stick. West, north thrice, west twice, north twice, east and north. Up, and
north again. Yes, that's it. No, I don't know, either, nor do I want to know.
In any case, it seems that part 2 was never written, let alone sold. A fat lot
of good _this_ exercise did us, then...
