ROBYN HODE
Runesoft
ACD Software
Spectrum 48

This game, as the name implies, is a variation on the theme of Robin
Hood. It is a tedious game with many "empty" locations, and in
comparison, few objects to collect. While there may have been
documentation that came with the purchased game, finishing it without
that knowledge is not possible.

Several of the objects you collect are needed for an escape from the
dungeon. However, you can play the game without getting captured.

You need money to buy food, though if you do not wander much, then it is
not needed. You also need the money to get hints and some objects.

It is necessary to have the tinder box for Part 2.

There are several chance elements in the game. You lose strength through
"chance" events: when examining the hole when in the well (-20), when
the viper bites you (-2 each time; this occurred to me five times,
though there may be more such occurrences), when you are captured and
put in the dungeon (-20), and when you fall down the hole with the rope
(-25). These usually weaken you, and if you eat and drink, your strength
is increased. On the other hand, you can SAVE/RESTORE at various
locations, to avoid some of these hazards. You gain strength by: eating
the meat you cut (+20), drinking at the well with the bucket (+20),
drinking from the water bag (+20), lying in the dungeon (+20), and
giving money to the villagers in return for a meal (+25).

you see Allen-a-Dale and give him some objects), LOOK (you see the code
for Part 2 – 6080 330Z).

Part 2:

This part of the game allows you to keep score. In this part you can
GIVE GOLD to the townsfolk as you do not need to buy anything. Keep
doing this until you get the message to pay homage to the king. While
this gets you points it doesn't do much else for you.

There are some bugs in the game. You see a torch which you already have.
Take it anyway.

SNOD HENGE, 6080, 330Z, INVENTORY (you have gold, a tinder box, and a
horn), DROP HORN, BUY SWORD, NE, E, E, E, E (you see a monk). Here if
you rob the monk, when you meet him again in the church, he calls for
the soldiers saying you are raiding the church. If you kill the monk, a
man runs up and turns you in. So TALK TO MONK (he walks away), SW, W, W,

TAKE TORCH, LEAVE, TALK TO TUCK (), S, E, E, E, EXAMINE STONE (you see

GIVE GOLD when you see townfolk. Eventually you will see Friar Tuck and
another 100 gold. TALK TO TUCK (he says there is a maid in the castle
kitchens who will unlock the door near the sump and give you food), TAKE
GOLD, GIVE GOLD (when you have given all the gold, you are told to pay
homage to the king). From the hollow stone, go W, W, W, NW, W, W, N,
ENTER, EXAMINE CHURCH (a monk asks you who you are), ROBYN HODE ( you
are told you cannot enter the castle from the town, but... you are
ushered away and you get a key).

change of clothes), S, UP, UP (the guard asks for the password), HAIL
JOHN.

Go S, W, W, N, UP, S, E, N, TAKE CASKET, S, S, EXAMINE DESK (there is a
50% chance you see the parchment; continue examining the desk until you
do), EXAMINE PARCHMENT (a reward is offered for you), N, W, N, UP
(ignore the soldiers), E, E, S, UP, EXAMINE LANCET (Maid Marion tells
you the only one safe way into the tower is through a secret passage on
the first floor of the castle), DOWN, N, UP, OPEN DOOR (the alchemist
says he can lead you to Maid Marian if you give him the king's jewelry),
OPEN CASKET, INVENTORY (it's a casket of jewels), GIVE CASKET (the only
way into Marion's prison is from the Sheryffe's room), DOWN, N, W, DOWN,
N, E, S, EXAMINE ROOM, MOVE CHEST, OPEN TRAPDOOR, UP, EXAMINE PASSAGE
(you see bags of sand), MOVE BAG, LEFT BAG (Marian runs out). I suggest
you do a SAVE/RESTORE here as this may be chance element as to which
bag. KISS MAID (she will follow you), DOWN, N.

EXAMINE PASSAGE (you enter the Royal Suite), S, W, W, EXAMINE FIREPLACE
(you see a secret passage; a soldier advances to fight), KILL SOLDIER

EXAMINE CHURCH. You are finished but with only 70 %. More points can be
obtained in you drink with the soldiers in the inn. There are also other
places to visit but they just make the game longer and more tedious.
