YENGHT
Dinamic, 1984
=============

Solution by Exemptus - August 2020

NOTE: This solution appears in English, but the commands correspond to the
Spanish used in the game. This way the walkthrough can be followed by everyone,
although it is expected that if you are interested in playing this game then you
may be able to read Spanish. But be my guest in any case.

Overview and general hints:
---------------------------
Yenght is a world where the mythical Fountain of Youth is. As an adventurer our
quest is to find it before we get too old. We begin as a 30 year old but as the
game turns pass we grow older. At the beginning of the game we are told that the
Oracle of Yength predicts we will live until 70 - this is the time we have to
complete the game. We may check our age at any time with the command EDAD.

The game is very simple, except for the fact that time passes automatically. If
no input takes place then things will happen on their own. Locations are static,
as are NPCs, who do not move at all: they will always be found in the same
locations. Some are hostile and may attack us, others are friendly; but the only
use they have is to give hints if we ask them with PEDIR A <character> AYUDA.
Hints are less useful than expected, which is just as well, because they
often refuse to give any help at all.

The hostile characters are Eric, Bebz, Theff, Gosp, Dunge and Bloob. They will
likely attack on sight, although if we are quick we can exit the location before
they do.

There are no puzzles, and only three objects which are repeated (that is, there
are several copies of them, although we can carry only one of each): food, which
we need to replenish strength; a sword, which allows us to win in fights; and
keys, which open doors. We do not need to use keys: if we carry one and arrive
at a location where a key is needed, it will be used at once and disappear from
our inventory.

The game mechanics goes as: find a key, open the first door, find another key,
open the next door, find another key, open the last door, and advance to the
goal location, this without dying from hunger, being defeated in a fight, or old
age. That is all; therefore the game is a deterministic race against time.

The map has 70 locations, a few of which are lethal to walk into, but they are
always the same. Two areas are apparent: the Labyrinth of Yenght, which has to
be crossed, and the Lands of Yenght beyond the Labyrinth. Plenty of one-way
passages are there to frustrate the player and make us go the long way around,
but once mapped and known where the objects are, there is nothing else to do.

Neither exits nor objects are visible, but the former are shown by the command
SALIDAS (abbreviated to SA) and the latter by OBJETOS (abbrevated to OB).

Mind that there is a nasty bug: Under certain conditions, the game will reset
after a fixed number of commands, regardless of what is done, and go back to the
main screen with no warning. This never happens with a freshly loaded game, so a
way to ensure this does not happen to you is to load the game from scratch.

Walkthrough:
------------
[We start with a notice stating that we have until 70 years of age to complete
the game. This is plenty, provided we do not dally.]

COGER LA COMIDA [We get the food]
COMER [Eat the food; there is no reason to defer this]

[We get the first key, which open the Labyrinth's exit. It is best to go there
straight away.]

[This is the exit from the Labyrinth, which we open automatically - from now on
we can go east from here. The key in our inventory vanishes, so we can go get
another one right away. Since there is another key in the Labyrinth, we can go
for it. First a brief detour to get more food though.]

With the second key in hand we go directly to the second door. So far we haven't
come across any hostile characters, but that is about to change, so we will need
a sword. Luckily there is one near here.]

COGER LA ESPADA [We have the sword now]

N [Jonk Plain]

[Theff is here and he will probably attack us, but we are well fed and carrying
the sword, so he should be no trouble. In fact there are several hostile
characters we need to pass one after another, so if they do not attack it may be
best to kill them to avoid surprises later.]

ATACAR A THEFF [Only if he does not attack us, otherwise he'd be already dead]
E [Gosp and Jeda are here - Gosp is bad, Jeda is good]
ATACAR A GOSP
E [Dunge is here, who is hostile as well - in the meantime we open the door]
ATACAR A DUNGE

[We have opened the door that leads to the Fountain of Youth, and only the last
door remains - so we have to double back now and get the final key, then come
back all the way.]

COGER LA LLAVE [We have the last key now]

[Regrettably we cannot go back the way we came because of one-way paths, so we
are forced to go into the Labyrinth again and re-cross it from the start.]
