NIGHTWING
Written by Clive Wilson (Ulterior Motives)
Walk Through by Dorothy Millard (C64 Version)

Scenario
Winging through time upon the back of a giant bird, you find yourself in a huge dome. ahead is a
tableau on which you see that Earth is void of humanity who fled aeons ago. Unlock the secrets of
the dome and so return humanity to the land. Seek out the Sacred Texts which contain clues to the
means of returning the Old Ones.

Notes
1. A special command RECALL allows you to view any of the texts once you have found them.
2. Once you have entered a scenario you cannot use the elevator again until you have found the
text.
3. If at any time your score falls to zero you die. To replenish energy you should rest or sleep.
4. Wisdom is gained by doing things correctly but is lost much more quickly by doing things
wrongly.

Walk Through
(Start in a dome - note the year of redemption), EXAMINE TABLEAU (behind it you find a distorter),
GET DISTORTER, N (elevator), PRESS BUTTON (you descend to the gardens), EXAMINE DOME (built as
protection from radiation), EXAMINE GARDENS (note if you go north at this time you won't be
able to go any further), S, EXAMINE DROIDKIN (attached to it is a power pack), GET POWER PACK, E, E
(by a wall), EXAMINE CASE (glass - within it you see a scroll), READ SCROLL, MOVE CASE (as you move
the case a large gap appears in the wall behind), N (through the wall), OPEN BOX, EXAMINE BOX (in it
you find a grubby old cloth - a red herring), EXAMINE BOX (this time you find a small metrod), GET
METROD, S, W.

N (the door is locked), EXAMINE DOOR (has a tiny square microphone grille), SAY ERRIS ARRIANO (the
door slides open), N (computer room), TYPE THREE ONE TWO FOUR (the computer responds with
"logged on"), R (redescribe), TYPE DEFENCE (you are logged into the defence system), R
(redescribe), TYPE ACTIVE (a unit opens and a phasex pops out), GET PHASEX, EXAMINE PHASEX
(it's a small laser pistol), TYPE ENVIRONMENT (you've accessed the environment screen),
TYPE DEACT (you have now switched off the environment protection), S, W, N, N (you can now go east
because you deactivated the environment), E (into building - you find text Alpha), W (a squad of
robomen are standing before you), AIM PHASEX, SHOOT ROBOMEN (they are wiped out - note if you now
try to return to the elevator you will be killed because the environment control is deactivated and
the dome will explode), S, S, E, SAY ERRIS ARRIANO (the door slides open), N (computer room), TYPE
THREE ONE TWO FOUR (logged on), TYPE ENVIRONMENT, TYPE ACTIVATE (you have reactivated the system),
S, W, N, W (elevator), PRESS BUTTON.

(You are on the bridge of a great space cruiser - note if you press any of the buttons the ship
blasts off and you die), S (galley - the nutriblock is a trap, but if you must eat it drink the
redliq which you find later to counteract the poison), E (computer room), EXAMINE COMPUTER, GET
BUBBLER, EXAMINE BUBBLER (it's a small bubble memory cartridge - however it won't run on
this machine), W, W (crew's quarters), MOVE MATTRESS (beneath it you find a sheet of
plastowood), GET PLASTOWOOD, N (library - the visidisc you find here is used in the room to the
west, but if you get it and go west a droidkin locks the door behind you and you are trapped with no
way out - the visidisc when placed in the vidiplayer gives information on how to control the ship. -
make sure you quicksave first if you wish to try it), E (back to bridge - if you try to go east from
here you will be told the elevator is not here at present).

N (teleport chamber), EXAMINE CONTROL BOX (it has an on/off switch and a slot), SWITCH ON CONTROL
BOX (the teleport is switched on), PUT DISTORTER IN SLOT, EXAMINE DISTORTER (a lever shaped circuit
- one end contains electronic contacts), TURN DISTORTER (the teleport hums into life), ENTER
TELEPORT (you are transported to the teleport destination which contains Text Beta), EXAMINE ROOM
(behind the glass case you find a scrambler), GET SCRAMBLER, ENTER TELEPORT (back to the ship), S
(bridge - a red light is flashing - this is because activating the teleport initiated an ignition
sequence - if you go east in to the elevator the ship will blast off killing you), N (back to
teleport), SWITCH OFF CONTROL BOX (it is shut down), S, E (elevator), PRESS BUTTON (the elevator
vanishes).

(You are in Cloud City), EXAMINE PATHWAY (you discover the redliq), E (darkness falls), EXAMINE
POWERPAK, INSERT METROD IN POWERPAK (they are transformed into a glowbar), USE GLOWBAR (if you
don't have the glowbar when you go east you fall to your death), E, EXAMINE LEDGE (you find a
tiny Diamus), GET DIAMUS, EXAMINE DIAMUS (a valuable gem), N (you have found the sacred Text Gamma -
but the shutters come crashing down to seal your exit), SWITCH OFF GLOWBAR (the shutters slide up -
they work on a light principle), S, USE GLOWBAR (you need light for the next bit), W, W.

W, N (electrogrid), PUT PLASTOWOOD OVER GRID, N, E (the Robomaster is here), GIVE DIAMUS TO
ROBOMASTER (he is transfixed by it's beauty - now you can get closer), USE SCRAMBLER (it
scrambles his brains), E (Text Delta is here - the final of the four texts), W, W, S, S, E, N
(before you stands supabrain computer), SCORE (at this point you must have gained sufficient wisdom
to operate the supabrain), EXAMINE SUPABRAIN (on one side you see a bubble memory port), INSERT
BUBBLE IN PORT (it hums into life - the four sacred texts present you with four numbers "SIX
TWO ONE FIVE" - the first text gives you the clue that each number is less than the previous),
TYPE SIX FIVE TWO ONE (as the supabrain comes to life so a shimmering appears in front of you...
then the room is filled with humanity as the lost ones return... with their arms around your
shoulders, they thank you and show you the way back through the radix to your own time... as they
fade so does the memory).
