A knight is always true to his lady. iv. The legends of wounded King Pelham in the marsh. v. Turquin's prison cannot be entered by one knight alone. vi. Only a knight free of sin shall reach the grail. vii. The key to the key is cancellation and much help. viii. Elaine is cursed yet blessed, for she will bear the best of knights. ix. Orkney shrubs can hold a multitude. x. Arthur's missing knights are found in nine places. Note You cannot take the gold out of the offertory bowl. U (landing - Elaine's room is east while your room is south - you cannot go to Elaine without sullying your honour so), S (you are in the perilous bedroom but cannot, in honour, leave until morning), TAKE PILLOW, LIE ON BED (during the night you are woken by a panel opening, are attacked and wounded), EXAMINE PANEL (almost hidden), LIE ON BED (this time you are awakened by a magical knight emerging from the panel), CLOSE PANEL (moved a little), CLOSE PANEL (almost half shut), CLOSE PANEL (completely shut), ATTACK KNIGHT (keep attacking until he is dead), LIE ON BED (the panel opens again and an old man with a staff of vengeance appears), EXAMINE OLD MAN (of sad appearance - note if you kill him you lose 20 points so just ignore him), LIE ON BED (repeat, ignoring the four gentlemen and the bishop, until the cock crows and you are free to leave), N (gallery - Dame Brisen the enchantress gives you a potion that makes you believe Elaine is Queen Genevere... so you lay together... thus the prophesy is fulfilled... Lancelot however kept his honour because he betrayed Genevere against his will), SCORE (350/1000). GO TO BOAT, IN, N, N (Isle of Servage), OUT, E (you are outside a castle where a giant lives) U (inside the tower where the giant wakes long enough to tell you that he is not afraid of you as a saint once told him that he could only be killed by his hand, which is mummified and in the sack on which the giant rests his head), GAWAIN WAIT THEN PUT PILLOW UNDER HEAD, GET SACK (this substitutes the pillow for the sack and the giant continues sleeping), EXAMINE SACK (in it is a relic), REMOVE RELIC (from the sack), HIT GIANT WITH RELIC (he collapses into dust as the mummified hand strikes him), GAWAIN WAIT THEN OPEN DOOR, OPEN DOOR, E (into a prison where you rescue Bors de Ganis), BORS FOLLOW ME. RUN TO TURQUIN'S MANOR, LOOK (you are on a track outside the manor... Sir Turquin attacks you), FIGHT TURQUIN (keep attacking until he submits and flees inside his manor), IN (you see a secret panel and some loose planks), N (you step on the loose planks... the panel opens and an arrow fires which you dodge - do you want to jump back?), YES (note Lancelot is the only one who can safely pass here), BORS WAIT THEN HOLD PANEL OPEN, N (again you are asked if you want to jump back), YES (Bors is holding the panel open), ENTER PANEL (to secret room where the crossbow is), EXAMINE CROSSBOW (it was the act of a moment to destroy it), GAWAIN WAIT 20 (leaving Gawain here acts as a balance for the boards and prevents you falling into the lower dungeons with the other knights), BORS FOLLOW ME. S, S, W, W, W, W, W (windswept tor), N, E (you are on a road from the beach and sentries guard northeast), WAIT (until a carter enters if he isn't already there), GET IN CART, WAIT (keep waiting until the carter drives past the sentries), GET OUT (of the cart), EXAMINE FIRE (burning and in it is some hot coals), EXAMINE SHIPS (they are the Sessoine invasion fleet), EXAMINE CAULDRON (contains soup), EMPTY CAULDRON, BORS PUT COALS IN CAULDRON, GET CAULDRON (if you drop it just try again), U (you are on board a Sessoine warship... on the deck are a pile of sails), PUT COALS ON SAILS (they catch fire and the whole fleet burns... with their ships lost the Sessoines surrender... you are greeted by King Mark and invited to Tintagel Castle for a celebration), SW, SW, NW (outside the Cornish King's Castle of Tintagel), IN (you find that the king is holding Tristram, one of Arthur's knights, as a hostage... he imprisons you lest you free him), GIVE HARP TO TRISTRAM (he plays and the guards fall under the enchantment of his music... they gladly open the cells for all to escape), SCORE (460/1000). (You have now released the knights from the nine locations and must report back to Arthur to be confirmed as a Round Table Knight), RUN TO ARTHUR (you are on a wide avenue), S (game one loads in), RUN TO ARTHUR (Genevere reads a sheaf of letters from the Damosel Maledisant in which she praises Lancelot's deeds... you are proclaimed a worthy champion for the Queen and invited to join Genevere in the meadows of Westminster). GO TO WESTMINSTER (when you arrive you find the queen no longer there and signs of a struggle), WAIT FOR CARTER (if he isn't already here), GET IN CART (note if you get in while he is going north you will see him making deliveries before finally loading provisions and heading south to Castle Meliagaunt), WAIT (keep waiting until you are on the east side of castle Meliagaunt), IN (to hall where the Knights turn and run at your very presence), U (landing), N (into the royal suite - the Queen's Knights are here), N (royal boudoir - Sir Meliagaunt is apologising for kidnapping the Queen... she thanks you as her saviour inviting you to return later and dismisses you imperiously with a wave of the hand), S (note if you try to return to the boudoir you are told that you are not permitted), W (into the guest suite), EXAMINE BED, EXAMINE CHEST (contains some gloves and a hat), GET GLOVES (leave the hat), E, D, OUT, W (formal gardens), EXAMINE WINDOW (barred), U (overcome with passion you bend the bars and hurt your hand... you spend the night with Genevere), OUT (in the morning you climb down the ivy to the gardens below), WEAR GLOVES (they hide your injury), E, IN (hall of the castle), U (landing - you hear shouting from the queen's room), N, N (Genevere's boudoir - Sir Meliagaunt accuses Genevere of adultery as blood was found on her pillow... you defend her... your challenge is accepted setting the time for three days hence), S, S, D (the stairs give way and you drop a long way), LOOK (you are in a small dark prison), WAIT (until the damosel enters if she isn't already there), EXAMINE DAMOSEL (she promises your freedom if you promise to love her and give her a kiss), WAIT (until the damosel leaves), WAIT (a night and day pass), WAIT (the damosel enters again), EXAMINE DAMOSEL, WAIT (she still wants a promise and a kiss), WAIT (until she leaves), WAIT (another day and night passes), WAIT (this is the important third day... until the damosel enters), WAIT (the damosel tells you that Genevere is to be executed today as she has no champion to defend her honour... she feels sorry for you and offers to free you for just a kiss with no promise), KISS DAMOSEL (she opens the door). FIND QUEEN (you are on the lawns beside the castle where the queen is tied to a stake with the evil Sir Meliagaunt ready to light a fire), FIGHT MELIAGAUNT (after a pitched battle you prove the queen's innocence and release her from the stake... you are taken to the landing of the palace - note down takes you to the throne room but you cannot re-climb the stairs... your room is to the west and the queen's is to the east... you know that it is Arthur's wish that you embark on the quest for the Holy Grail, but realise that you cannot leave without saying farewell to your only love the queen, so undressed and unarmed), E (into Genevere's bedchamber - there's a knock on the door), GET STOOL, EXAMINE STOOL (there is a demand that the door be opened), QUEEN WAIT THEN CLOSE DOOR, OPEN DOOR (Colgreavaunce enters and attacks Lancelot... the queen shuts the door), ATTACK COLGREAVAUNCE (you use the footstool and strike him down... you take his armour and weapons... you open the door and drive off the other knights... again you prove your honour and that of the queen.... game three loads). PART 3 - QUEST FOR THE HOLY GRAIL (Twenty years have passed since you left Camelot... the knights have dispersed to follow the Holy Grail... you find yourself in the chapel of Vagon Castle in front of the altar and as you are about to embark on a holy quest), PRAY (or be called Lancelot the Infidel), WAIT FOR GALAHAD, EXAMINE GALAHAD, OUT, E (to a fork in the road - a cross and a crown are here), EXAMINE CROSS (bears an inscription saying northeast to peace and southeast to death), EXAMINE CROWN (don't take it though or you will be known as Lancelot the thief), NE, N (outside a church where a preacher greets you and says he will shorten your quest for the holy grail if you give him the jewelled crown), MAKE SIGN OF THE CROSS (the demon vanishes). S, SW, SE (thorny track), S (shady woods where a knight protecting the woods has sworn to kill Lancelot and asks your name), KNIGHT I AM LANCELOT, ATTACK KNIGHT (keep attacking until he is defeated or avows that you have fought bravely and spares your life), E (outside a pavilion - a damosel invites you inside), EXAMINE DAMOSEL, IN (pavilion - she offers you cakes but don't eat them because if you do you lose 10 points for the first and second and 50 points for the third - if you ignore the damosel you are branded unchivalrous and lose 50 points), MAKE SIGN OF THE CROSS (she was really a demon... the pavilion vanishes), E (to ford where a black knight challenges you but you can get past so long a you aren't carrying anything), E, E, N (base of cliff), U, U, U, U (outside hermitage - ignore the entreaties of demons claiming to be deciples of Nacien), IN (the real Nacien gives you a chalice), TAKE CHALICE, OUT, D, D, D, D (base of cliff), S, S (well), GIVE CHALICE TO PILGRIM (he drinks and returns it to you - note Lancelot isn't pure enough to draw water from the well). S (into the White Abbey), EXAMINE SHIELD, EXAMINE TOMB (note you are unable to get the shield, Galahad must do this but not yet), OUT, N, E (stony road), E (forest ride where you see Sir Ector in trouble with some bandits to the north and a maiden in distress to the south), S (you rescue the maiden), N, N (you rescue Sir Ector... you score 20 points each for saving them in the correct order), S, D (bleak shore), EXAMINE BOAT, EXAMINE HORN, EXAMINE SWORD (again Galahad must get this), FIND GALAHAD, FOLLOW GALAHAD (continue following him until the barbarous knights attack him and you hasten to his aid), ATTACK KNIGHTS (keep attacking until suddenly the skies open and lightening strikes Galahad's foes - Galahad should now obey your commands), GO TO WHITE ABBEY, WAIT FOR GALAHAD, GALAHAD TAKE SHIELD, GALAHAD FOLLOW ME, GO TO SHORE, WAIT FOR GALAHAD, GALAHAD TAKE SWORD, RUN TO WHITE ABBEY, GALAHAD OPEN TOMB (a foul field emerges), GALAHAD KILL FIELD, EXAMINE TOMB (contains a dead body), TAKE BODY, FIND PRIEST (the priests say a benediction over the body and take it for burial). GO TO BOAT, GET IN BOAT (note Galahad is the only one who can steer the boat), TAKE HORN, GALAHAD GO S (you need wind and Galahad prays for it), BLOW HORN (a magical wind springs up), GALAHAD GO S (you are on a western shore of seaweed strewn pebbles), GALAHAD GO E, GALAHAD GO E, GALAHAD GO S (Isle of Turnance), U (path where a fisherman tells you about two great dragons laying waste to this isle), E (small hillock), S, S, S (blackened clearing - a black dragon is here), N (the dragon follows you), N, N (back to hillock still with the dragon following), GALAHAD WAIT WITH DRAGON, N, N, N (clearing where you see the red dragon), S (the red dragon follows), S, S (hillock where the black dragon is - the two dragons fight and kill each other... the people of the isle bring Lancelot a cup of mead in token of their gratitude), GALAHAD GO TO BOAT, GO TO BOAT, GET IN, GALAHAD GET IN (if he hasn't already).
