Synopsis

By the late 2090s the Earth's energy crisis had deepened. Nuclear energy had not been used since 2021 after a series of nuclear accidents had turned public opinion against it. However the discovery in 2095 that energy could be transmitted over vast distances along a FASER beam enabled the setting-up of nuclear stations orbiting the Earth.

Even this was found to be too hazardous and by 2180 the science of robotics and android technology had evolved to such a degree that the first android power station was constructed. This was so successful that many more were set up between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, and all were staffed entirely by androids.

All went smoothly until 2205 when the stations unilaterally declared independence. The Commanders of the stations became fabulously wealthy by charging exorbitant prices and in 2218, when our story starts, they broke off diplomatic relations with Earth, with a threat of cutting off all energy supplies.

You, a junior member of the Diplomatic Space Dispatch, have been chosen to deliver an important peace formula document to the Commander of station X14.
