Plot

Try to repeat the feat of the classic novel, complete with a balloon ride and other exciting features of the original adventure. Are you ready to take the challenge?

Notes

This was adventure #6 in the SoftSide Adventure of the Month Club subscription service. It was released in November 1981 and first advertised in SoftSide magazine, issue 23, vol. 5, no. 2, November 1981, p. 80.

The title is not referred to in the game itself. It is called 'Around the World' in the title screen for the instructions, 'Around the World Adventure' in the rest of the instructions, 'Around the World in Eighty Days' in the original advertisement and 'Around the World in Eighty Days Adventure' in subsequent advertisements. These were all written by SoftSide staff, not the original author, so the first is considered to be the correct title.

Jason Dyer attributes the game to Peter Kirsch.

This is loosely based on Le Tour du Monde en 80 Jours, the classic novel by French writer Jules Verne published in 1873 and translated to English as Around the World in Eighty Days the same year.
