Synopsis

Plot

Your real name is Robert Newbie, Bob to your friends (and sometimes enemies). During the early 1990's, you dreamt up a new computer game, a whole new concept that had great potential. You called it, "The Sims", and it was your greatest achievement ever.

Being a big fan of the SimCity series of games, Maxis was your first consideration when looking for a company willing to take your idea on board. Will Wright was one of your influences in the computer game-programming world. So off you went to Walnut Creek with the original plans and drawings of your great new creation. After explaining to a few receptionists and tea-boys at the front desk what your vision was, one of them decided that you should talk to the man himself, Will Wright.

All you remember of this great day in your life was explaining the whole concept of the game to Will Wright and showing him the detailed drawings you had. Wright was impressed, that was easy to see. He made you coffee which you sat and drank just as soon as you had explained every last shred of detail about the game that you had created in your mind. And that's it... That's all you remember.

You woke up 2 days later in a prison cell, managed by ignorant guards who though not brutal, were seriously lacking compassion. No telephone calls, no explanations: nothing. A small handful of other prisoners were held there and one or two others came and went, but your life was now a prison cell. No explanation has ever been given to you, but among the other prisoners, you have worked out between yourselves the ugly truth behind this outrageous situation.

The people in these cells all came to Maxis with great ideas for Simulation games. They have all suffered the same fate. Ideas and plans stolen from them by Maxis and imprisoned to maintain silence while they develop and publish the games under their own name, and for their own profit.

You have now been in this prison for 5 years. YOUR game is a best seller and your will to prove the truth has grown strong enough to give you the motivation you need to escape from this place, and find all the evidence you need to prove the terrible things that Maxis have been guilty of for years. The truth must be told, and Bob Newbie is the man to do it!

You learned from one of the other inmates, a trustee, that today is Thursday and all the Maxis staff are out at some launch party for another expansion pack for The Sims. If you're going upstairs, today is a one in a million chance of getting there without being caught.
