KEYS TO GONDRUN
Leisure Games, 1982
===================

Solution by Exemptus - December 2019

Overview and general hints:
---------------------------
This game is a very short, crude Text RPG with multiple choice
responses, a fixed map, and random battles. Monsters appear in the same
places but their number and the outcome of attacks are random. There
are four possible attacks and four possible defences, but in reality
the only sensible attack is to stab, since we have a dagger from the
start. Each defence only works against a type of monster attack as
follows:

Hit......Dodge
Stab.....Parry
Kick.....Cover
Bash.....Block

Apart from the battles, the game has other random choices at times. We
cannot drop objects. Objects are there just to make it difficult to
take the right ones, as we can only take 6 and we start with 3 already.
Therefore ignoring or picking up certain objects is critical to success
- otherwise the right events are not triggered.

Walkthrough:
------------
FLAG [Forced, otherwise we are back where we were]
BANG or KICK [try the other if the door does not open; this is random]
RIGHT
PICK [The sandal is one of the objects we need]
UP
IGNORE [The sack of gold is a red herring]
SOUTH [We are back where we began, which is what we want]
LEFT
IGNORE [The butty serves no purpose]
UP

[At this point, the Huge Jubjaroo should appear and attack. Battles are
random, so you can die here. I will assume the outcome of battles is a
win for the player; otherwise the game is restarted.]

PICK [The silver trumpet is the other critical object we need]
NORTH [The dancing daisies lead to random battles unless we have the
trumpet]
PLAY
IGNORE [The box of diamonds is another red herring]
WADE [CROSS also works here, STAMP does not]
TRY [The shoes do not serve a purpose, but ignoring them leads to a
battle. Quickly press P when the game tells you or otherwise you will
die].
P
LEAVE [This usually avoids the battle, but may not work every time;
depends on the randomness of the game]
BANG [If you ring the bell you are simply transported back to the
start]
THROW

[End of game.]
