I Spy Red

Part 1
------
Check your inventory. You're carrying your mission papers.
Read the papers. You must kidnap Dr Kildare.
Go south, south and west to the clothes shop.
Examine the assistant. You recognise him, so show him your papers.
He ushers you into the back room.
Take the watch but leave the bottle of acid and the gun.
Examine the watch. It has a built-in laser. Some capsules of poison fall out.
Go east, north and east. Examine the bench and take the record sleeve.
Examine the sleeve - it's a clue.
Go west, north and north to the reception of the American Embassy.
Give the record sleeve to the receptionist - it's a secret signal for spies.
She takes you to the consul's room.
Examine the table. Take the report and read it.
Go north and take the matches.
Go up and south and get the cigar.
Go north, west and south to the spacious bedroom.
Examine the desk. There's a key taped to it, which you can't get as the tape is too
strong.
Light the cigar. This sets off the sprinkler system.
As the tape is now wet, you can get the key so do so.
Go north.
Unlock the door and go west.
Examine the bed and take the gas mask.
Go east, east, down and west to the dining room.
Sit down and examine the table to see your dining companions.
Poison the pint of bitter.
The dead man is dragged away and you are told there is now a place for you on the boat and that your
passport is on the table.
Go south and take the passport.
Go north and east.
Sit down. You fall into the toilet.
Wear the gas mask, flush it and you are swept into the sewers.
Go south, south, east, north, east, north, east and south to the ladder.
Pull the ladder down and go up.
Remove the gas mask and go south to the bus stop.
Examine the shelter and take the bus ticket.
Wait for a bus and enter it when it arrives.
Go south and west to the cafe.
Examine the trolley and take the cake.
Eat it. You're forced to work, so wash the dishes. You're given some money in return.
Go south and east and buy a train ticket.
Go south and west to Platform 3.
Wait for a train and enter it.
Go south.
You are arrested for being in possession of an American passport.
(You can drop the passport and not get arrested but you need the passport later, so don't).
Fire the laser in your watch at the prison bars.
Go west, south and down.
Fire the laser at the sky as a signal and board the boat, which takes you to America.
The password for part two is DRAG BUFF.
Part 2
------
Examine the beach. Get the red, blue, brown and yellow pebbles.
Go east, east, east, north, east, east, east and north.
Take the scarf.
Go east, east and east to the building site maze.
Using your coloured pebbles and scarf to navigate, go east, south, east, north, west, east, south,
south and east.
Get the brick.
Go west, north, north, west, south, west, north, west and west.
Go west, north and east and throw the brick at the jewellery shop window.
Waste a turn to avoid being arrested - do an inventory check or something (there is no WAIT command)
- then go north, west and north and get the car.
Drive south, south, south, west, west and north.
Get the rope.
Go south, east and south and drop the car.
Go south, west, south, west, west, up, west, north and east.
If you take the cheese, the druid kills you with the curse of MIKANDLEM so you should say it first.
Say MIKANDLEM and take the cheese.
Go west, north, east, north, west and north.
Drop the cheese and get the mouse.
Go south, east, east, east, north and north
To traverse the newsroom maze go north, east, north, east, west and south (NENEWS - any news - get
it?!)
Show the mouse to the elephant. It jumps into your arms.
Go south, south, south, south, west, north and north.
Drop the elephant on top of the lion.
Go west and examine the dressing table. It has a mirror.
Examine the mirror. There's a message - codename Bartholomew.
Go east, south, south, west, south, west, south, south, east, down, east, east, north, east, north,
north and north to the pub.
Say Bartholomew.
A tallish man comes up to you and tells you to follow him...
The password for part three is REGG SLO3.
Part 3
------
Examine the counter and get the $5 note.
Go south, west, north, north and talk to the barman who tells you about noises at the mansion.
Go south, west and south into the phone booth.
Examine the telephone directory.
Dial 9437 and go north, east and east.
Enter the taxi. Your fare is the $5 note.
Tell the driver you want to go to the mansion.
Go east and south behind the bush.
Wait, and listen. A guard is singing 'Baa baa black sheep'.
Wait again until the guard has gone.
Go north and examine the gate. It has a microphone attached.
Sing 'Baa baa black sheep'. The gate opens.
Go north, west, north, west, north, west and north. Take the hammer.
Go east and east.
Examine the fire alarm point and break the glass.
Go west, west, south, east, south, east, east, north and east to the reception area of the house.
Go east, south, south and west and take the starch spray.
Go east and south. Examine the sink and take the rubber gloves.
Go south into the dumb waiter and press the up button.
Go north and take the chair.
Go west and south.
Examine the bookcase. Lift the book. A secret passageway opens.
Go south and get the ultra violet torch.
Go north, north and north.
Examine the bath and take the loofah.
Go south, down, south, down and down to the cellar.
Drop the chair, climb onto it and examine the wine rack.
Take the bottle of wine and smash it. You find a key.
Go down from the chair and up, then up again to the hallway.
Go south, south and south to where the dumb waiter should be.
There's a pile of rubbish. Take and examine it. It consists of an apple core, some string and a
crushed coke can.
Go north, north, north, north, up, east and south to the dumb waiter.
Press up. There's an exit to the north, barred by a locked mesh. Unlock it and go north and
north.
Examine the swimming pool. There's a plug. Wear the rubber gloves and pull the plug to drain it
- it was full of acid.
Go down into the pool and examine the tiles. Try to take the loose tile. You can't but you find
a piece of paper.
Take the paper and go up, south and south. Press down twice.
Go north, north, north, north, west and west to the driveway.
Switch the torch out here as it is solar-powered and does not work indoors.
Examine the paper. It reads 3324 ALPHA 4443.
Go east, east and north to the lounge.
Take and read the note. It's your move in the chess game - you are playing black.
Examine the chess set (press shift to scroll).
Move the bishop to D8. A secret passageway is revealed.
Go north, east and east.
Spray the loofah with the starch. It's now hard.
Hit the physicist with the hard loofah. Pick him up.
Examine the desk, take the manual, examine and read it.
Go west, west, south, south, south, south, south and south to the dumb waiter. Press up twice and go
north.
Examine the console. It has a monitor and a keypad.
Type the code from the paper. Type 3324, then ALPHA then 4443.
Go west, west and north to the helipad.
Fly the helicopter.
You have completed I Spy Red.
Notes regarding part 3
----------------------
I found no use for the rubbish, i.e. the apple core, coke can and string.
You can obtain foam by breaking the chair, which you can then tie to your feet with the string, but
I did not find any reason for doing so.
Parts 1 and 2 were versions 101 (by typing the command VERSION). Part 3 had no version number.
