THE ISLAND Written by N. Smith (Crystal) Walk Through by Dorothy Millard (Spectrum Version) Scenario After your plane crashed you have managed to swim to a conveniently placed island. Your task is to escape, preferably alive and with the valuable treasure that is buried somewhere on the island. Notes: 1. Playing this game is largely a mapping exercise. There are whole sections, which are superfluous and/or lead to dead ends. 2. Death can be sudden and instantaneous or the result of the build up of damage caused by snakebites, rock falls, explosions, etc. Use the STATUS command to check damage. 3. There are only seven objects that are needed to complete the adventure - the rest (and there are many of them) are red herrings: TORCH, KEY, OIL, HALF A WAND, HALF A WAND, RAFT and ROPE. 4. Doesn't understand examine. Walk Through (Start on a golden sandy beach), E (outside cave entrance), GET TORCH, N (dark cave), W, N, E (maze), E, N, W, N, E (dead end where you see the password "fiddlesticks"), W, S, W (don't enter the stone archway to the west which leads into a labyrinth from which there is no escape), N, N (jungle), N, N, E, N, W, W, GET KEY, N (large clearing), E, S (stone circle), E, E, S, E, E (guard hut where the guard asks if you know the password), Y (he allows you to pass), N, N, N, S (bottom of steep cliff), LOOK (see a lift), USE LIFT (now at top of cliff), N, S (you enter a cave), S (see half a wand), GET HALF, S, E, E, GET OILCAN, E, E (temple), E, N (in another of the temple's other rooms), LOOK (see a secret door), USE KEY, USE OIL, OPEN DOOR (it opens and you hear a distant noise - this action creates the rope on the second island), DROP OIL. W, N, N, N, N (steep path where you see the other half of the wand), GET WAND, S, INVENTORY (the wand has become whole), E, E, N, E (back to outside entrance to cave system, east of the start location), N (dark cave), E, N (summit of steep hill), GET TELESCOPE, USE TELESCOPE (see a sign telling you not to look through the telescope again), DROP TELESCOPE, U (beach where you see a raft), USE RAFT (now on a windswept beach of the second island), N, GET ROPE (the rope will only be here if you have opened the secret door on the first island), E (plain), S (sandy plain where must be carrying the rope to avoid the quicksand), S (oasis), USE WAND, INVENTORY (now carrying the treasure), R. Well Done. This is incredible! You have won! You discover a small boat and as the sun sets you sail off into the darkening horizon to spend your money!
