Synopsis

You have been given the mission of exploring the ancient ruins of long lost ADVENTURE CASTLE, which are said to be buried nearby.

Local people are afraid of this area... so you are on your own. Those foolish enough to attempt the task have never been heard from again.

There are rumors of terrible monsters and strange magic...

Your job is to find and explore the castle and surrounding area, and to retrieve the fabulous treasures said to be lost within its depths. If you do manage to find anything of value, pile it on the beach where your employer can get it (If you can't find the beach, you're in REAL trouble).

An entertaining and none too easy re-imagining of Crowther's original. It took me a while to realise how to combat any nasties - as so often the real foe is the parser. I was attacked by a nasty skeleton and armed with a sharp knife. Unfortunately the game does not understand "skeleton" and the simple "kill" parses "what do you want to kill?" After much thought I found that "kill with knife" does the trick. Presumable this will work as a catch all (or should that be slaughter all)?

I must confess I cheated somewhat and increased the lamp life in the source code. My main bugbear in old text adventures is finite lamp life. It may be more realistic but I don't play these games for their gritty realism.

Wonderful games like Acheton and Brand X are somewhat impaired for me by tight lamp timers. To draw a not very good analogy I liken it to visiting your favourite restaurant and being told you can only have the table for an hour. I have no issue with sudden deaths/mazes/learning through screwing up however.
