Synopsis

Plot

In CUTTHROATS, you are a skilled diver living on Hardscrabble Island, a small seaport past its prime. You will try to salvage a sunken treasure from one of four shipwrecks; if you are successful, you will be fabulously wealthy and enormously respected among old salts. Some characters in the story will help you; others will try to stop you any way they can. If you can think logically and keep your throat intact, the treasure can be yours.

Notes

As well as all the official, original release platforms, the game has been ported to many other systems that support z-machine.

The game was ported to emulated VZ200 in 2022 by R. Banks & S. Marks; see here.

One of the underrated of the infocom series. Solved this one without much trouble and deserves a relook.

How to download games from this website? Is it possible or just information about games

Just information, such as solutions & maps, so you will usually have to go elsewhere if you want the game files. See the links on the page for some starting points.

Simpler than it looks, but satisfying. This adventure has memorable characters and a proper plot that moves forward with the player, but strikes a better balance with difficulty than other Mike Berlyn games. The plot forking based on random elements was a novelty, but it didn't catch on too well, which is a pity. Needs replaying by design, to its advantage. Worth the effort.
