The PCW series of computers was produced by British company Amstrad from 1985 to 1998. They appeared as the Schneider Joyce in Germany.

Designed as a word processor and general home office machine, they were very adept at playing text adventures. All the PCW machines, except the later PCW16, included the CP/M operating system which allowed the machine to access a wide range of CP/M-driven games, once they were transferred to the correct format disks.
