Synopsis

Filbur Apse was a particularly obnoxious person, who enjoyed upsetting and annoying anyone and everyone he came into contact with. One day, however, he went too far, annoying a seemingly harmless old man who turned out to be a wizard in disguise. As a punishment the wizard cast a spell which changed Filbur so that he was no longer obnoxious - and took all the fun out of his life! Can he find the magic ingredients that will make him thoroughly detestable once more?

This is a none too easy game which harks back to the author's earlier efforts Forestland and Goblin Towers but with a much greater degree of difficulty. I have amassed four of the five ingredients necessary and know what the fifth is but the obvious action to obtain it doesn't seem to work for some reason.

I hope this is merely an oversight on my part and not a bug. You presumably must feed the mouldy breadcrumbs to the lark to obtain the lark's vomit (a reference to Monty Python's Whizzo Chocolate Company) but leaving the breadcrumbs in the obvious area to do so and moving away produces nothing.

I finally managed to see this through to the end and the problem I had is due to poor puzzle design. If you climb the oak tree and EXAMINE BRANCHES you see a lark's nest. However, if you do this before you throw the mouldy breadcrumbs in the open area in the forest the lark's vomit never shows up in the nest as a consequence. You must feed the lark before climbing the oak tree and finding the nest or you have softlocked the game.

Aside from that there are some clever puzzles in here. The game itelf is quite compact.
