Synopsis

Plot

Fordo, Spam, Pimply and Murky must take the Great Ring to Mount Gloom.

Notes

The game is based on the eponymous 1969 book, itself a (rather obvious) parody of Tolkien's masterpiece.

Although the game originally had a C64 release, an additional (new) C64 version was produced and re-released by Anthony Collins of The Guild, converted from the ZX Spectrum version, in 1992/1993. It is presumed that that specific edition was text-only.

At one point, a PAWed sequel/remake, B... B... B... Bored of the Rings (The Remix?) was announced as a 1988 release; but never materialised.

Silly satire, maybe not quite as good as the book, but playable and inviting and more than workable.

Not much of a game by way of puzzles, rather a vehicle for McNeill's parody. You need to get the in-jokes, though. There seem to be a number of versions around, with minimal differences.
