Synopsis

You read an article in the local newspaper about the discovery of a rich gold deposit out west. The miner who uncovered it apparently met his demise before recording his discovery. Since this means anyone who locates the mine and files a survey can claim ownership, you decide to give it a shot. You purchase a round trip ticket and hop on the next train heading west.

In order to stake your claim, you must locate the mine and deliver a survey of the mine and an ore sample to the assay office.

Notes

There is a documentation file on the disk. This is for version 1.1 dated 27 November 1989, but the BASIC source code is for version 1.2 dated 27 August 1991. Version 1.0 and 1.1 of the source code have not been discovered in any online archives.

You can remove the REM from line 20 to run it faster in Turbo-BASIC XL.
