This the wizard achieved, but at a price. The seven spheres he created became more dear to him than anything else ever could. When the time came for him to hand them over, he could not bear to let them go.
So he fled far away to a place where no-one could find him, and there he lived in solitude for a long time. But the spheres began to take a hold on the wizard with their unnatural power and he worshipped them.
Under magical guises he wandered the kingdom, and learnt that the king was offering a handsome reward to the person who killed the wizard and handed him the seven spheres. An evil plan began to form in his mind.
The wizard would approach the king and give him the spheres in person, but first...he would change them a little. He worked long and hard, fuelling his hatred and deepest emotions against the king.
Over the following weeks, he trapped his emotions within the seven spheres, and the Spheres of Chaos were formed. Each Sphere was a powerful object on its own, but together they were deadly to those who could not control them.
One day, the wizard appeared to the king in a blinding flash of light, and he handed him the Spheres. The king was so overwhelmed by the surprise of the appearance that he could do no more than stand in disbelief.
The wizard made good his escape, but the king could not escape the ravages of the seven Spheres. His body was found torn apart the following morning by a routine guard; 'death by unknown cause' was the verdict.
To prevent them from causing more damage, the Spheres were scattered over the kingdom by wise men who guessed of their power. That is where the matter has rested for the many years since that time.
But recently it has been rumoured that the present king is trying to locate them and use them for his own good. If he could control their power, he would doubtless become too powerful to stop.
Although the power of the Spheres has diminished over the years, their power is still great. As far as you can see, there is only one solution. You must locate the seven Spheres in an attempt to prevent the king from doing so.
Of course, to do so means that you will have to discover whether you can control their power...

This is an interesting "collect the spheres" quest set in a rural community in an indefinable bygone age. It is extremely large and has some tough puzzles and a fair sprinkling of NPCs. One interesting idea is a "village in the sky" constructed of wooden bridges and tree houses above a forest. There are a few bugs so far but nothing game breaking and a "shambling mummy" which seems to have been lifted straight out of Acheton, although this one doesn't appear to have ever met Mike Oakley. Unusually there don't appear to be any dark locations so no light source is necessary.
