Walking along a lonely country lane one day, you notice a strange object lying by the side of the road.
On picking it up, you find that it consists of a number of silver discs pivoted together through the centre. A circle of brightly coloured jewels is set around the circumference of the outer disc.
The inner disc bears the legend: 'Spin me and I'll tell you true What the future holds for you'.
As you spin the wheel, you start to feel dizzy and collapse to the ground.
When you regain your senses you find yourself amidst strange surroundings in a magical world. The Wheel of Fortune is gone and you can see an old beggar, running away in the distance.
Your adventure starts here. You must find the Wheel of Fortune and use it to escape back to civilisation. Any treasures that you find along the way are yours to keep.

If you take away the usual "epic" series of paths that the company threw in to disingenuously augment the room count (a major selling point back in the day) such as ten moves to reach the bottom of a well this is quite a clever game. There are a number of NPCs and progress requires tightly timed interaction with them. Softlocks abound if you give the wrong item to the wrong person or indeed in the wrong place.
I have just discovered that the game proceeds in real time. I lit the lamp and retired after completing the first stage but this morning the lamp has burnt itself out.
It's wonky parser time again; having neared the end of the game I have finally run out of lamplight. I have been toting a cup full of oil around for most of the game in certain expectation of having the wherewithal to replenish the oil lamp when it finally ran out of fuel. And so, with empty oil can and cup of oil in hand I set off an another great "hunt the acceptable phrase" expedition. FILL LAMP, FILL LAMP WITH OIL, POUR OIL, POUR OIL IN LAMP, EMPTY CUP, EMPTY CUP IN LAMP, REFUEL LAMP, REPLENISH LAMP, RECHARGE LAMP, RELIGHT LAMP....one day I will play a game when I don't have to delve into the source code to find out either a) the game is bugged and/or b) an obscure verb/noun combination is the only parsable emtry.
