Try it on the Spectrum instead. The graphics are colourful and nearly instantaneous. It's far from perfect - the vocabulary is far too small, for one - but certainly enjoyable.

The Spectrum version is all right; it was converted by David Banner using the same parser of his other earlier works. A compact, unsophisticated game, a bit on the formulaic side, but manages to engage the player.
I've only played this on the C64, and the graphics draw at an a-g-o-n-i-z-i-n-g pace. Dreadful. Otherwise it's decent but not on par with the sequel.

I just wish Empire had been released on the Speccy. I don't think it ever was.
No, C64 and CPC only. The former has slow (although much improved) graphics and nice music, whereas the latter has quick visuals but no tunes (AFAIR).
